Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1124

Justin trembled, the color draining from his face. "Understood. You have my word, I'll keep her in line."

The Voss Group heavily depended on the Lance Group for a multitude of massive contracts.

"Owen Lance, you bastard! How dare you use our business against us!" Vivienne shrieked, thrashing violently against her brother's grip.

Justin finally snapped. He let go of her and barked at the two bodyguards standing behind them. "Grab her! One on each side! If she breaks loose, you're both fired!"

"Forgive us, Miss," the bodyguards muttered, instantly lunging forward to pin Vivienne's arms in an iron grip.

"Justin Voss, what is the meaning of this?! I am your sister! How dare you treat me like this!"

Being held back by her brother was one thing; being physically manhandled by hired muscle was an entirely different reality.

Her brother grabbing her was just dealing with a tantrum. Being pinned by bodyguards was like being escorted to a prison cell—it was a humiliating blow to her status as the eldest Voss daughter.

Justin narrowed his eyes, his expression turning somber. "If you want to keep whatever shreds of dignity you have left, shut your mouth. Otherwise, I will happily gag you myself."

At that exact moment, a chilling realization washed over Vivienne. The fight drained out of her, and she fell silent, letting the bodyguards drag her toward the gates.

The man standing behind her was no longer the little brother who used to rely on her. He was the newly minted heir of the Voss Group.

In his eyes, the corporation's survival was infinitely more valuable than his own flesh and blood.

In truth, "drag" was putting it politely. If the bodyguards had come alone, it would have been a kidnapping. They would have executed their orders with clinical precision, giving her zero room to negotiate.

"How could Father do that to me?! I don't believe it."

"You'll believe it when we get home. But don't blame Father. You blew over a billion dollars of the family's money! Who wouldn't be furious? From now on, the entire family has to tighten their belts because of you, Vivienne! Not only that, but you severely crippled Father's authority in the company, which directly jeopardizes my future!"

"What do you mean, the family's money? Wasn't the majority of it company funds?! They all voted to approve it!"

Vivienne stared at him in utter disbelief. She had been representing the corporation on that investment. How could the entirety of the loss be pinned on her own family?

"Stop being so painfully naive," Justin scoffed. "You lost an astronomical fortune. Did you really expect the board to just swallow that? Let me spell it out for you: if you had made a profit, it would have been company money, and everyone would have taken a cut. But the moment you crashed and burned, they turned on you. You should be thanking your lucky stars that Father drained our private assets to cover the hole. Otherwise, those vultures would have slapped you with embezzlement charges and thrown you in a cell.
