The group followed his gaze and spotted Gene Kingsley, the Mavarian hotel clerk they had encountered during their last stay. He was a notorious sycophant who relentlessly pandered to foreigners while treating his own compatriots like dirt, earning him the absolute disgust of Mira's team.
"Hey there, snob. Looks like we won't be needing your services this time."
Wesley called out casually, throwing him a mock salute.
Gene's face flushed red with anger. However, seeing the owner of The Larsen Grand personally escorting Mira's group inside, a sharp glint of jealousy flashed in his eyes.
He didn't dare utter a word, quickly ducking his head to focus on his work.
How could these broke country bumpkins from back home receive such VIP treatment? It wasn't fair!
And he had finally become a proud, naturalized citizen of Javenaire, yet here he was, working as a lowly server while they strutted around like royalty?
To make matters worse, as honored guests of the hotel owner, Mira and her team were now so high up the VIP ladder that Gene didn't even have the clearance to serve them anymore.
During their last visit, Hank had booked their rooms in advance. If he had been even a second slower, they would have been locked out.
This time, they were all staying in the exclusive VIP suites at The Larsen Grand.
And since Mira was now a shareholder of the hotel, she even scored a generous discount.
At noon, James played the gracious host, treating the entire group to a lavish lunch. The perks of being both a shareholder and a friend of the owner were undeniable, drawing envious stares from the other patrons.
However, James cautioned them against making any public appearances too soon, especially Mira.
Her previous rampage through Wall Street had already caught the attention of the major financial syndicates.
"Could we just wear disguises?"
Wesley suggested.
"It's best if you don't show your faces at all. We can't risk jeopardizing the plan."
James warned.
Mira had come all this way specifically to target the international syndicates as they moved against the Southeast Asian markets. Her entire strategy hinged on exploiting their blind spots.
"No way, how are we supposed to hide his giant nose?"
Mavarians generally had flatter, more delicate features, making it easy to build up prosthetics to look Western. But transforming a Westerner into a Mavarian was a logistical nightmare—starting with that prominent nose.
Master Ellis studied James's face for a moment. "It's doable. We'll just use a silicone mask."
"Hahaha! I'm going to be an Easterner!"
With the logistics settled, everyone retreated to their respective rooms to rest. Having just arrived in Javenaire, they desperately needed to adjust to the timezone. Otherwise, they wouldn't have the mental stamina to stare at stock charts for hours on end.
It was currently 3:00 PM in Manhattan, which meant it was early morning back in Mavaria. They had essentially pulled an all-nighter.
Back in their suite, Owen turned to Mira. "Isn't it a bit too early to sleep? I'm worried I'll just wake up in the middle of the night.
Why don't we kill some time and go to bed later?"
"You can kill time if you want. I'm going to sleep."
