Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1060

In Vivienne's eyes, Lawrence and his sister had plenty of malice but absolutely zero competence. They were brainless. Even Lawrence's fiancée, Seraphina Quinn, was a complete idiot.

Since they lacked the brains for the operation, she decided to be the mastermind behind the scenes.

If they succeeded, she would reap all the rewards. If they failed, they would take the fall.

It was perfect!

Yes, that was the plan. There was nothing more flawless in the world.

As a result, when Mira faced multiple Ghost-Needle assassination attempts, she and Owen only suspected Lawrence's circle as the inside men. They never once suspected Vivienne was pulling the strings.

Eventually, Vivienne grew frustrated with Luna's incompetence and bypassed her entirely to contact Mishka directly. She only kept the siblings in the loop when she needed them to act as scapegoats.

When Mishka grew irritated over spending millions on failed hits, Vivienne had reassured her, "Failure has its own perks. You might not have killed her, but you've successfully turned her life into a paranoid nightmare.

"I'm betting they already suspect you.

"Knowing how aggressive and relentless Owen and Mira are, they will inevitably track you down to the Balkan Underworld to finish you off.

"But that is your territory. The moment they step foot there, whether they live or die, suffer or perish—that's entirely up to you.

"Miss Mishka, I'm willing to be your eyes and ears in Aethelgard, but I need a favor in return."

"Name it," Mishka had replied.

"Your target is Mira. When the time comes, leave Owen alive for me, alright?"

Naturally, when Vivienne said to keep him alive, she didn't mean she wanted Mishka to treat him like a VIP guest.

Vivienne had heard the horror stories of the Balkan Underworld. She wanted Owen broken. Once he was pushed to the absolute brink, begging for a death that wouldn't come, she would swoop in like a saving angel.

He was going to be her future husband, after all.

Meanwhile, as Mira and her group headed toward the airport exit, they quickly spotted Mr. Lawson waiting for them.

"Silas, over here!"

Silas Lawson hurried over with his men to help with their luggage.

To avoid drawing attention from Balkana, their itinerary was strictly confidential. The authorities hadn't sent an official detail to pick up Dominic, so Silas had arranged to transport him as well.

Once they were settled in the car, Mira smiled at Silas. "I picked up some incredible items on this trip. I'll have to gift you one."

They had specifically kept the hundred crates of premium jade because such flawless stones were nearly impossible to find. They would make perfect high-end leverage and gifts.

"What kind of incredible items?" Silas asked, his warm smile resembling that of a proud uncle indulging his favorite niece.
