Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1059

The two figures were none other than Owen and Mira, who had just returned to Aethelgard. Master Ellis, a few bodyguards, and Dominic followed closely behind them.

"Why do they look so familiar?" a woman with long hair murmured to her friend.

Her friend glanced back at the pair. "Could they be...?"

She seemed to recall something but quickly dismissed the thought. "No, no way. It absolutely couldn't be them."

"Who? Who are you thinking of?" the long-haired woman asked, confused.

"There is no way that's Owen and Mira," her friend repeated.

"Owen and Mira? Yes, that's them! I knew they looked familiar. Wow, I'm actually seeing my idols today!" The long-haired woman tried to squeeze through the crowd for an autograph, but the short-haired woman held her back.

"What idols? I'm telling you, that is absolutely not Owen and Mira."

"Why are you so sure?"

"Because they went to the Balkan Underworld a while ago. By now, they're probably already..." The friend stopped herself mid-sentence. She cursed her own impulsiveness; she had nearly spilled too much.

"Wait, the Balkan Underworld? What did you just say happened to them?" The long-haired woman's eyes widened.

"Nothing, I was just guessing."

"Ugh! Don't just make things up if you don't know! Seriously, jinxing people like that. Anyway, I am certain the people we just saw were Mira and Owen."

"No, absolutely not," the short-haired woman denied again.

"What is wrong with you today? You're talking nonsense," the long-haired woman said, shooting her friend a strange look.

"I said it's not them, so it's not."

...

When it came to background, she had the backing of the Voss family, one of the four major powerhouse families in Aethelgard, whereas Mira was just a discarded orphan kicked out by her own relatives.

As for Mira's Solflare Group, Vivienne was entirely convinced it was secretly funded and run by Owen.

A teenager launching a massive corporation while still in high school? What a load of crap. No one had that kind of ability.

People were just mindless sheep, believing whatever PR garbage was fed to them.

After her relentless pursuit of Owen hit a dead end, Vivienne made a vicious vow: if she couldn't have him, no one else would either.

Later, she learned from Luna Lance that someone overseas wanted Mira dead, and that Lawrence and Luna were acting as informants for that foreign kingpin.

The gears in Vivienne's mind had started turning. If that little girl died, wouldn't she finally have her chance?

Looking at all the eligible bachelorettes in Aethelgard, she confidently believed no one could hold a candle to her.
