The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 566

Winona guided her horse at a leisurely pace back toward the stables. Ryder walked over to meet her, his eyes brimming with unmistakable pride.

"Mr. Powell," Winona greeted politely.

Ryder's normally harsh features softened entirely. "If Wynne knew you destroyed them out there today, she'd be thrilled."

Winona smiled modestly. "It's only because she's such a brilliant teacher. Without the techniques she taught me, I wouldn't have stood a chance."

"I made a promise earlier," Ryder said warmly. "The winner gets a prize. Tell me what you want, and it's yours."

"Thank you, but that's not necessary. I wasn't riding for a reward."

"I'm not like them," Ryder insisted gently, referring to Margaret and Sylvan. "When I make a promise, I keep it."

Winona had learned enough about Ryder's unyielding nature from Wynne to know he wouldn't take no for an answer. She nodded. "Okay. I'll let you know."

That evening, Stefan returned to the villa and leaned against the doorway, a smirk playing on his lips. "I heard you wiped the floor with Cheryl and the rest of them today."

Winona was sitting at the vanity, finishing her skincare routine. "It was actually pretty effortless. They looked furious."

Stefan walked over and set a velvet jewelry box on the vanity. "A victory present."

Winona popped it open to reveal a stunning diamond bracelet. "Why is it always watches or bracelets with you?" she teased. Her jewelry box was overflowing with them.

Stefan looked at her, his expression turning intensely earnest. "Watches represent time, and bracelets represent protection. I want to give you all my time, and I want to protect you forever. I thought the meaning was perfect. Do you not like it?"

Winona was entirely accustomed to his habit of delivering deeply romantic lines with absolute, deadpan seriousness.

"I love it," she murmured. She closed the box and leaned up to press a kiss to his cheek. "By the way, your grandmother's banquet is tomorrow. We flew all the way here just to skip the main event. Is your mother really going to let that slide?"

Right on cue, his phone started ringing. It was Margaret.
