Monday morning, Winona hopped into the back of Ezra Vane's SUV to head to the lab.
As the car rolled out of the underground garage, a familiar vehicle caught her eye. Glancing out the window, she locked eyes with Yulen.
What was he doing here?
Then, it clicked. The new neighbor moving in yesterday.
Winona pulled out her phone and called the building concierge. "The new resident who moved in yesterday—is his last name Locke?"
The concierge confirmed it.
Winona swallowed back the surge of nausea churning in her stomach, forcing herself to focus on the digital files on her tablet.
When they arrived at the research institute, she stepped out and headed straight for the elevators. There, she bumped into Zack Charlton.
Zack frowned slightly. "You look a bit pale. Did you have breakfast?"
Winona nodded.
Zack pulled a bottle of probiotic yogurt from his bag and handed it to her. "This brand is amazing. Here, take it."
Thanks to Yulen, Winona's stomach was still doing uncomfortable flips, so she accepted it gratefully. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it. We're friends, right? No need to be so polite. The meeting hasn't started yet—why don't you come to my office? I actually have a few technical questions I wanted to run by you."
Winona agreed and followed him into his office.
Knowing Winona was coming in for the morning meeting, Shirley Maddox had arrived early. As she walked past Zack's office, she saw the two of them chatting, standing somewhat close to each other.
A bitter wave of jealousy and resentment flared in Shirley's chest. Pulling out her phone, she stealthily snapped a few photos of them. Because of the tricky angle she chose, Winona and Zack looked highly intimate.
She then recorded a short video and sent everything straight to Tallulah.
"Got the photos and the video for you."
Tallulah replied almost instantly. "Perfect. Just wait for the good news."
Shortly after, Tallulah created a burner email and forwarded the media anonymously to Glenda. She didn't have Stefan's direct contact, but she had his grandmother's. As long as Glenda saw this, she would notify Stefan's mother, Margaret, and they would pressure Stefan.
Eventually, Stefan would start doubting Winona.
