On Friday afternoon, Winona and Jericho Harper arrived at the grand auditorium for the award ceremony.
Dean Ziegler, Sheldon Cohen, and Zack Charlton were already there waiting for them.
Upon seeing them, Dean Ziegler beamed with praise. "Jericho, Winona's brilliance is honestly staggering. I am incredibly jealous you scooped up such a phenomenal protégé."
Jericho practically glowed with pride at the compliment directed at his star researcher. "Winona is in a league of her own. Frankly, if you combined the talent of every researcher under your wing, they still wouldn't hold a candle to her."
It was a ridiculously arrogant statement, yet Dean Ziegler, Sheldon, and Zack didn't even try to argue. They all silently agreed; Winona was exactly the kind of generational genius Jericho claimed she was.
The ceremony was about to begin.
Because she was attending alongside Jericho, Winona was seated in the prestigious front row, directly flanked by two high-ranking city officials. The officials continually engaged her and Jericho in conversation, their faces expressing deep admiration for her work.
Sitting several rows back in the mid-section were Sylvan Scully, Yulen, and Tallulah.
Watching Winona casually rub elbows with government elites from a VIP seat made Tallulah seethe with bitter jealousy.
Sylvan, meanwhile, maintained his usual air of utter disdain, refusing to even look in Winona's direction.
When the ceremony commenced, the host took the stage, announcing the winners and inviting them up.
Amidst a thunderous round of applause, Winona rose gracefully and walked up the steps.
She wore a flawlessly tailored, minimalist pantsuit. Her hair was swept up into an elegant twist, exposing her radiant complexion and long, graceful neck. Her eyes were sharp and focused, exuding the effortless, commanding aura of a high-powered professional.
Many in the audience were instantly captivated by her striking beauty, but upon hearing the host list her groundbreaking achievements in pharmaceutical development, their admiration quickly shifted into profound respect.
Hearing the whispers of praise rippling through the crowd, Tallulah instinctively shot a glance at Yulen.
Yulen's face was an emotionless mask, but his white-knuckled grip on his armrest betrayed him. He hated witnessing her success. Every accolade she received was a glaring reminder that she was soaring far beyond his control.
Tallulah turned back to the stage, comforting herself with petty rationalizations. *Once Locke Group successfully launches the HSV-121 drug, I'll be the one holding that award. I'll eclipse her entirely.*
Sylvan, still blinded by his fury over Ophelia's exile, sneered internally. He was thoroughly convinced Winona's accolades were entirely bought and paid for by Stefan Goddard to artificially inflate her worth so she could marry into the Goddard family.
After accepting the sleek crystal trophy and posing for official photos, Winona returned to her seat.
