The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 496

***

After finishing her shift at the lab, Winona checked her phone and saw a message from Wynne.

"Winona, I heard you and Stefan visited me quite a bit while I was recovering. Thank you."

Winona quickly typed back, "You don't need to thank me! You've always been so kind to me, visiting you was the least I could do."

"If you have some free time, would you like to have dinner together this Saturday?"

"I'd love to."

Reading her reply, a soft, immensely satisfied smile spread across Wynne's face. She turned to Ryder, who was sitting beside her hospital bed. "I'm having dinner with Winona this Saturday. Could you hire a top-tier private chef here in Riverton?"

She hadn't kept the discovery of the twins a secret from Ryder, and he had sworn not to let it slip.

Thrilled to see his wife's lifelong dream finally coming true, Ryder smiled warmly. "Consider it done."

Wynne immediately started spiraling into planning mode. "What kind of gifts should I buy them? A house? A new car?"

Ryder chuckled, squeezing her hand. "If you drop the keys to a mansion on them right now, it's just going to scare them off. Start by simply sharing a meal. Ask about their lives. The rest will happen naturally."

"But I want to give them the world. If cars and houses are too much, maybe we can elevate their careers. Winona and Forrest are both such brilliant, hardworking kids who built their own success. We have the resources. I could introduce them to the right people, completely elevate their standing in their industries."

"That's actually a great idea," Ryder agreed. "The Powell family has massive investments in both tech and pharmaceuticals. We can seamlessly route high-level projects their way."

Yet, for Wynne, it still didn't feel like enough. She wanted to pour decades of pent-up love and wealth over them instantly.

Ryder stroked her knuckles, his voice a steady, grounding anchor. "Patience, my love. They are adults with established lives. Reframing their entire reality to accept you as their mother is going to take time. Using professional networking as a bridge to get closer to them is the smartest play."

Wynne let out a long sigh, nodding. "You're right. I'm rushing this, aren't I? Finding them has been my sole obsession for decades. But to them... I'm just a woman they barely know."

"I'll be right beside you through all of it. We are their parents, and our only job right now is to love them, not to detonate the lives they've built. And Wynne... if it turns out they have deep emotional ties to the families that raised them, you have to promise me you won't let it break your heart."
