The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 465

Winona looked at her with genuine curiosity. "Wynne's injuries weren't caused by me, and they weren't caused by Stefan. On what grounds are you forcing Stefan to take responsibility for this? Furthermore, does this 'propitiatory wedding' remedy have any actual medical backing? If Wynne doesn't wake up, is Stefan supposed to just divorce Ms. Powell?"

"Absurd!" Glenda snapped. "Once they are married, how could they possibly divorce so easily?"

Winona laughed coldly. "Glenda, do you know why Stefan is so distant with you?"

Glenda frowned. "Why?"

"Because you love forcing people's hands," Winona replied. "Stefan isn't some puppet you can manipulate. You'd better rein in that controlling streak of yours, or you're going to have a very miserable old age."

Growing up in a rural village, Winona had seen plenty of elders who used their seniority to torment their children and grandchildren, only to end up bedridden and completely abandoned, given just enough food to survive while their pleas were ignored by neighbors who remembered exactly how vicious they used to be.

"Are you cursing me?" Glenda demanded, her face flushed with anger.

"I'm just giving you a friendly warning." Knowing exactly why Glenda had come, Winona had no desire to waste another breath on her. She turned to leave.

Seeing that Winona was entirely bulletproof and had the audacity to lecture her, Glenda angrily signaled her bodyguards to grab Winona and teach her a lesson.

Instantly, Ezra and Waldo Vane stepped smoothly into the path of the Shepherd family's security, blocking them completely. Realizing she couldn't lay a finger on Winona, Glenda was forced to retreat.

When Winona finally got inside her home, Lexie had already finished cooking.

Biscuit was quietly enjoying a can of food nearby.

Lexie brought the dishes out to the table. "Winona, try my new light meal."

She had been taking notes from a professional nutritionist lately and experimenting with new recipes.

Winona picked up her fork and took a bite. After swallowing, she let out a satisfied sigh—people who truly knew how to cook could make absolutely anything taste phenomenal. She eagerly took another bite and gave Lexie a thumbs-up. "Lexie, your cooking is just unbelievably good."

By the time Stefan rushed through the door, having abruptly ended his meeting after getting Ezra's text, Winona was already finishing her dinner, looking thoroughly content.
