The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 431

Yulen handed the baby to the maternity nurse and seized Winona’s wrist, his expression darkening. "Winona, Tallulah just went through childbirth. She’s incredibly weak. Don’t you think slapping her is a bit too cruel?"

She let out a sharp, mocking laugh. "What, your heart aches because she gave you a son?"

"What kind of nonsense is that?" A flicker of guilt crossed his face, but he quickly forced a calm facade, feeding her the excuse he had prepared well in advance. "Her boyfriend refused to take responsibility and left her a single mother. I’ve always treated her like a sister, so I felt bad for her. I’m stepping in as the baby’s godfather, which means you’ll be his godmother. We need to care for him. And because you can't conceive, my mother naturally dotes on the boy and wanted to throw a welcome banquet for him. Stop overthinking everything."

Hearing him spout such shameless lies, Winona genuinely laughed out of sheer disbelief. Did he really think she was stupid enough to buy that?

Suddenly, the baby started crying.

Tallulah immediately rushed over to soothe the infant, turning her teary eyes toward Winona. "Please don't misunderstand me. I've never wanted to fight you for anything. I've just been so weak lately, and Yulen simply asked his family to help me look after the baby..."

Yulen chimed in, trying to play peacemaker. "We're all family. Stop being so paranoid. Haven't you always wanted a baby? Stanley is a good boy. If you spend time with him, I know you'll love him. Who knows? Maybe Stanley will be our lucky charm and bring us a child of our own."

He cast a gentle, lingering look at Winona’s flat stomach.

Winona felt physically nauseous. He was utterly despicable.

"Yulen, I am absolutely not being the godmother to this child!" she sneered. "You want to prove he isn't yours? Fine. Let's go do a paternity test right now!"

Yulen's face instantly clouded over. "Do you have to make a scene right here, right now?"

Winona thought of the special 'gift' she had prepared for the upcoming welcome banquet, forcefully reminding herself not to act impulsively. Now was not the time to tear everything down.

Shaking off his grip, she turned to walk away.

Yulen grabbed her wrist again, softening his tone a fraction. "Winona, I know you've become so unreasonable because you're upset about not being able to get pregnant. But we can't control these things. You can't just throw tantrums and take it out on everyone else.

Winona just smirked. "What, aren't you going to check on your son?"

Ignoring the taunt, Tallulah gritted her teeth and hobbled after Yulen as fast as she could.

Winona grabbed two bottles of water and headed back to the hospital room.

Violet didn't want to linger in the sterile environment and was already discussing going home with Stefan once her IV was finished. After checking with the doctor and getting the green light, Stefan escorted his grandmother out.

Winona rode back with them to the Goddard Manor. The moment they stepped into the grand living room, they saw Margaret waiting.

The warm smile instantly vanished from Violet's face. "What are you doing here?"
