The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 430

Stefan casually looked over at Forrest. "Where do you work, Mr. Kane?"

"I finished my Ph.D. in AI at Riverton University last year," Forrest replied easily. "I stayed on as an associate professor."

"You look very young for a professor," Stefan noted. "You can't be thirty yet, right?"

"I'll be thirty right after the New Year."

Stefan's eyes narrowed fractionally. Forrest was exactly the same age as Winona.

Too many coincidences usually meant it wasn't a coincidence at all. He decided he would have his team run a quiet background check on the man as soon as they got back to Riverton.

After lunch, Winona offered Forrest a ride back, but he politely declined, having driven his own car.

Once they were on the road, Winona turned to Stefan. "Why all the sudden questions about Forrest's job and age?"

Stefan rarely took an interest in strangers.

"Nothing major. I just thought he looked strikingly similar to a friend of mine, so I was curious. It's funny that you two are the exact same age."

Since it was just a working theory, Stefan decided to keep his suspicions to himself for now.

"Oh, that makes sense," Winona said with a smile. A thought suddenly crossed her mind. "You know, he mentioned before that he was adopted. He had a really abusive childhood before his adoptive mom took him in, so he has zero interest in tracking down his biological parents."

She had originally planned to sneak a strand of his hair for a DNA test, but she dropped it when Wynne happily announced she had finally found her missing child. But if Wynne's "reunion" turned out to be a mistake, there was still a very real possibility Forrest was the missing heir.

She made a mental note to try and secure a hair sample the next time she saw him.

Listening to her, Stefan's suspicions only deepened.

Was it possible Winona and Forrest were both the missing twins?

As soon as they arrived back in Riverton, they received an urgent call. Violet had collapsed and was being examined at the hospital. Stefan completely forgot to order the background check on Forrest in the ensuing panic.

They rushed to the hospital.

It turned out Violet had secretly eaten a slice of cake, causing a massive spike in her blood sugar that made her pass out. She was currently hooked up to an IV drip.

"You lived off the Locke family's dime for years," Tallulah spat coldly. "You were handed everything on a silver platter, wearing designer clothes paid for by us. Doing one little project for free is the least you could do to repay that debt!"

Winona scoffed. "Handed everything on a silver platter?"

The Locke family had treated her like garbage since day one.

"Whatever! You are going to return those properties, and you are going to swear you will never try to extort another cent from the Locke family again!"

Tallulah had given the Locke family a son. One day, all of these assets would belong to her boy. She absolutely refused to let Winona siphon away a single dime that rightfully belonged to her child.

Seeing Winona turn to walk away, Tallulah lost her temper and aggressively grabbed her arm. Her sharp acrylic nails dug in, violently scratching Winona's skin.

Winona winced in pain. The sudden physical assault triggered the memory of the car crash Tallulah had orchestrated. Blind rage surged through her. She spun around and delivered a vicious, echoing slap straight across Tallulah's face.

Just then, Yulen walked around the corner, holding his newborn son. He froze, his face dropping into a furious scowl as he witnessed the slap.

"Winona, what the hell are you doing?!"
