The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 402

Yulen also felt the decision had been a bit rash, but seeing Camille act this way stirred up his resentment.

"Camille, I did it for the company! Besides, how was I supposed to know the Goddards would play dirty?"

Camille sneered. "This was Tallulah's brilliant idea, wasn't it? Yulen, you are unbelievably easily swayed. How many times have I told you not to let that woman interfere with the business? She's an idiot!"

Because Tallulah had been so gentle and attentive lately, and had put so much effort into the R&D, Yulen couldn't help but defend her. "Don't talk about Tallulah like that. She's fully dedicated to the company. What did she do wrong?"

Camille was so furious she was temporarily speechless, sitting on the sofa, breathing heavily.

"You go talk to Mr. Goddard. Beg him to show some mercy. The Goddard Group's profit margin on this drug is negligible; they're only aggressively marketing it to corner us. Apologize properly and get him to bury the hatchet. Otherwise, the Locke Group is going to have a very hard time moving forward."

Yulen, used to his own arrogance, frowned. "I'll figure out a solution. I don't necessarily have to apologize to Stefan Goddard."

Camille was too exhausted to argue. She waved him off. "Do whatever you want. But this isn't a simple fix. Your brothers-in-law don't have the power to clean up this mess."

Ultimately, the Locke and Scully groups couldn't withstand Goddard's ruthless marketing tactics.

Yulen might ignore Camille, but he couldn't ignore Sylvan Scully.

Sylvan arranged a dinner with Stefan, and Stefan agreed.

The thought of apologizing to Stefan at a dinner table made Yulen sick to his stomach, but for the sake of the company, he forced himself to swallow his pride.

On Thursday evening, Winona was getting ready to leave the office when Nolan Archer walked in.

"Mr. Gage wants to discuss some things, and Mr. Goddard happens to be available too. We're all grabbing dinner to talk business."

Since it was work-related, Winona couldn't refuse and went along with Nolan.

The restaurant was close to the office, just a five-minute walk. When they entered the private dining room, she realized it wasn't just Mr. Gage; Mr. Wallace from Marketing Division One was also there.

Winona had heard that Marketing Division One was pushing hard on a new drug for diabetes and obesity—a direct competitor to the HSK-003 co-developed by Locke and Scully.

She had written the R&D proposal for HSK-003, so she was incredibly confident in its market potential.

But Locke and Scully's marketing strategy was a mess. The erratic pricing had allowed Goddard Group to swoop in and steal the market share.

As she pondered this, she reached for a bottle of juice on the table. Just as she was about to twist the cap, Stefan reached over.

"That one's chilled," he murmured. "Have this one instead."

He took the cold bottle from her hand, effortlessly opened a room-temperature one, and placed it in her palm.

Winona's heart did a little flip. She instinctively shot a panicked glance around the table.

Nolan and Wallace were still deep in debate, completely oblivious.

Mr. Gage was busy texting on his phone.

She let out a quiet breath of relief and took a sip.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gage, Nolan, and Wallace were all working overtime to pretend they hadn't noticed the electric tension. All three thought the same thing: The boss being in love is exhausting for us subordinates.

At that moment, the private room door opened, and Yulen walked in with Sylvan Scully.
