He had previously promised to take her for regular check-ups at the hospital, but between the company crises and Tallulah's drama, he hadn't kept his word.
Yulen felt a twinge of guilt, but he quickly rationalized that Winona should be more understanding.
He was the CEO of a major corporation, after all. He couldn't be expected to hover around her 24/7.
Besides, she was the one who had been giving him the cold shoulder, which was the real reason they spent so little time together.
Having successfully shifted the blame entirely onto her, his guilt vanished.
Winona completely ignored him, continuing to eat her fried eggs in silence.
Since he needed to get to work soon, Yulen cut straight to the chase. "I want to talk to you about the video incident. I know Tallulah was the one behind it, but she didn't mean any real harm. I need you to talk to Nolan Archer and the Goddard Group executives and ask them to drop the charges against her.
"Also, if the Locke Group loses our partnership with Goddard, the financial hit will be massive. You don't want to see my company go under, do you? If you can smooth things over with them, I'd be incredibly grateful."
Winona couldn't believe the sheer audacity of this man.
She looked at him with icy sarcasm. "Are you finished?"
Yulen nodded. "Yes. Look, I know I'm asking a lot, but I'll make it up to you in other ways. Whatever you want, just name your price."
Winona picked up her glass of water and threw it squarely in his face.
The water dripped down Yulen's face, completely soaking his dress shirt. He stared at her, utterly shocked.
"Winona, don't you think you're crossing a line?" he demanded, his temper flaring.
So what if he had wronged Greta a while ago? He had compensated them! He was paying for Greta's ridiculously expensive international school tuition and her extra tutoring. How could Helena ever afford that on a nurse's salary?
And let's not forget the caregivers and nurses he hired for Nikita. He paid for all of that.
He had done so much for her and her family. Was asking for these two little favors really that unreasonable?
Winona knew Yulen had undoubtedly twisted the narrative to make himself the victim again.
"We didn't fight. We just had a disagreement."
"Hmph! You've gotten incredibly arrogant lately. You don't respect your husband at all. He asked you to help with a work issue, so you should help him! Every cent he earns goes to supporting this family. How can you be so dense?"
Realizing there was absolutely no reasoning with her grandmother, Winona cut to the chase. "Grandma, I'm at work. I have to go. And just so you know, Yulen doesn't always tell the truth. Stop blindly believing every word out of his mouth."
She hung up and immediately threw herself into her tasks.
At noon, Nolan called her into his office to discuss the video fallout.
"Yulen sent a top-tier legal team and managed to bail Tallulah out. Our plan is to proceed with the lawsuit. How do you want to handle this?"
Mr. Goddard had texted him last night, expressly ordering him to consult Winona before making any final legal moves.
