Everyone's gaze shifted toward the voice.
Stefan Goddard, dressed in a sharp black suit, was walking slowly toward them. The aura around him was as freezing as ice, sending a collective shiver down everyone's spine.
Mrs. Channing looked stunned. "Mr. Goddard?"
Blythe's eyes widened in disbelief.
Winona's influence was terrifying.
Zack and Sheldon had been willing to call in heavy favors to protect her.
And now, even Stefan Goddard was showing up for her.
Was this wretched girl really untouchable today?
Mrs. Channing quickly snapped back to reality.
Even if she was a fool, she knew Blythe had just used her as a loaded gun.
With a man like Stefan Goddard in the picture, would Winona even bat an eye at anyone else?
She forced a polite smile and turned to Stefan. "Mr. Goddard, this is all just a terrible misunderstanding. I completely believe that Ms. Jowett would never do anything to hurt Simone."
With that, she turned to Winona and apologized. "I am so sorry, Ms. Jowett. I acted completely out of line just now. Please forgive me."
As a prominent socialite and an elder, having to grovel to someone younger was mortifying.
If word got out, it would undoubtedly humiliate both the Channing and Sterling families, but saving face was nothing compared to preserving her family's overarching interests.
Winona looked at her coldly, showing no intention of accepting the apology.
Under Stefan's unwavering gaze, a fine layer of sweat broke out on Mrs. Channing's forehead. She quickly pulled out a checkbook, scribbled down a figure, and handed it to Winona. "I would like to financially compensate Ms. Jowett."
The check was made out for one million.
Considering Simone's feelings, Winona accepted it.
Only then did Mrs. Channing let out a breath of relief.
Her back was completely drenched in sweat. If Winona had complained further to Stefan, she truly wouldn't have known what to do.
She silently noted Winona's willingness to accept the olive branch and owed her one.
Inside the hospital room, no one was panicking more than Blythe.
But it didn't matter anymore. She had her grandmother and her aunt who loved her. She didn't need Blythe's affection anyway.
She turned to Stefan. "The bodyguards caught Zayden Shipley. Neither mother nor son is innocent in this."
Stefan nodded slightly. "Understood. I'll handle things from here."
His words always seemed to grant Winona an effortless sense of security.
Stefan gave a faint hum of acknowledgment, stepped aside, and made a phone call.
Seeing that the crisis was averted, Sheldon breathed a sigh of relief. He still had pressing work to attend to and couldn't stay. He checked in with Winona one last time before leaving.
Zack, however, refused to leave, standing steadfast by Winona's side.
Terrified of getting caught in the crossfire, Camille completely ignored Blythe's pleading eyes and slipped away.
Ultimately, Blythe was escorted away by the authorities for questioning.
Seeing that Simone was now in good hands, Winona said her goodbyes. "I'll come visit you in a few days when I have some free time."
