Winona froze.
Blythe spoke up from the side, "Simone was having a perfectly lovely dinner with us when she suddenly said she saw Winona and wanted to go say hi. I waited for ages, and when she didn't come back, I grew worried. When I went to look for her, I found that Simone had collapsed and had been taken to a hotel suite upstairs. I asked my son to go and bring her out safely, but these people actually attacked him!"
Winona hadn't expected Blythe to twist the truth so effortlessly and play the victim.
She sneered. "I'm just one woman. What could I possibly do after drugging Ms. Sterling? Besides, Zayden Shipley didn't go in there to save anyone. You know exactly what his intentions were, Blythe."
On the bed, Simone grew agitated hearing the blatant lies. She quickly defended her, "I never went looking for Ms. Jowett! Furthermore, I passed out inexplicably right after eating something at Mrs. Shipley's table!"
Mrs. Channing looked at Blythe suspiciously.
Now she wasn't sure who was telling the truth.
But Blythe had come prepared.
She pulled out a copy of the security footage she had acquired from the restaurant and showed it to Mrs. Channing. "Mrs. Channing, there's something I shouldn't hide from you anymore. This Winona Jowett is actually my daughter from my first marriage, making her Tallulah's stepsister. But she shamelessly ruined Tallulah's marriage by acting as her husband's secret mistress for over five years.
"This is the footage from tonight. Look at her, out here with three young men... I don't need to spell it out, I'm sure you understand. Given her chaotic private life, do you really think it's impossible for her to drag Ms. Sterling down with her? If we had been a step late, who knows what kind of shady men Winona would have let take advantage of Ms. Sterling... Just thinking about it terrifies me."
Mrs. Channing's face instantly darkened.
She hadn't expected Winona to be such a loose, shameless woman.
Simone might have a quiet and somewhat unlikable personality, but she had always known her boundaries.
To think Simone would actually lie to protect a woman like Winona—it was incredibly disappointing.
She turned to Simone. "Simone, don't let this woman fool you. Stay away from her. Don't get involved in this anymore; your aunt will handle it."
Simone's head was still spinning, and though she wanted to argue, she simply didn't have the strength.
Winona hadn't realized Blythe could sink this low. Her voice turned icy, "Between Tallulah and me, you know exactly who the real homewrecker is, Blythe.
"And what's wrong with me having dinner with my friends? Your mind is so twisted that you see dirt in everything. Since you pulled out the footage, why didn't you show the cameras covering the private dining room and the hallway outside the suite? Are you hiding something?"
She was already being incredibly merciful to Winona.
Seeing that she was ordering a hit on Winona, Simone weakly spoke up, "No, Auntie, you've really misunderstood. Winona is the one who saved me."
Mrs. Channing completely ignored her words. She coldly instructed, "Gag her first. Don't let her make too much noise."
Seeing that Winona was about to be beaten, Blythe didn't say a word to stop them. She just stood there quietly.
Winona had shown no mercy when she sent her to the police station last time.
She had discarded this daughter a long time ago, so naturally, she felt no heartache.
Truth be told, she didn't even understand it herself. She could never feel close to Winona; every time she looked at her, she felt nothing but annoyance.
It was probably because she was so thoroughly disappointed in her ex-husband that the resentment carried over to Winona.
Winona wasn't about to just let them bully her. She wrenched herself free from the bodyguard's grip and lunged toward the door.
