The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 268

She was so consumed by jealousy she nearly hurled her phone across the room.

If she hadn't been forced to resign, she would have been the one giving a speech tonight. She would be the one looking glamorous on that live stream.

It was all Winona's fault for stealing every single opportunity she had.

After the summit wrapped up, Winona stood near the entrance of the banquet hall, waiting for Stefan to finish his networking so they could grab dinner.

Sheldon, Nigel, and Zack finished saying their goodbyes to some industry veterans and walked over.

Zack jumped in first. "Winona, let me give you a ride."

Winona smiled politely. "No thanks, I'm waiting for someone."

Unaware of her relationship with Stefan, Zack asked curiously, "Waiting for who?"

Sheldon, easily reading the room and knowing Winona wasn't interested in Zack, quickly grabbed the younger man by the collar and dragged him away. "Winona definitely has important business to attend to. Let's not bother her. Come on, I'll treat you to some late-night food..."

And just like that, Zack was hauled off.

Winona waited for another five minutes before Stefan finally emerged.

They took the elevator down to the underground parking garage.

Once inside the car, Stefan turned to her. "Anything specific you're craving?"

Winona thought for a moment. "Noodles?"

Stefan chuckled. "Perfect. I was just in the mood for noodles too."

They found a highly-rated noodle joint nearby. The place had been open for years and was packed with customers despite it being late.

Since the private booths were all full, they took a small table in the main dining area.

Winona ordered the Tortellini en Brodo, while Stefan opted for the Shrimp & Orzo Soup.

The server brought their steaming bowls over.

Stefan naturally reached for the condiment caddy. "Do you want vinegar or chili oil?"

Winona shook her head. "No, thanks."

Her brother had actually dropped the formal 'Ms. Jowett' and was calling her Winona.

So intimate!

She was dying to see what her brother looked like when he was actually in love, so she gleefully announced, "I'm planning to fly to Riverton to visit Violet and hang out with you, Winona! Oh, and Biscuit is still at your place, right? I can visit Biscuit too."

Winona had finally stopped coughing. Hearing Roxana mention Biscuit, she felt a pang of reluctance. "When your brother asked me to foster Biscuit temporarily, I agreed. But since you're coming to Riverton, I should probably return him to you."

Roxana figured that since Biscuit was destined to move into the Goddard Manor with Winona eventually anyway, there was no rush to take him back now.

Besides, leaving Biscuit with Winona gave her the perfect excuse to play matchmaker for her brother.

"Winona!" she said brightly. "I'm only staying in Riverton for a short bit before going abroad to travel. I still need you to take care of Biscuit for me."

Relieved she wouldn't have to part with the dog just yet, Winona happily agreed.

After finishing their meal, Stefan and Winona walked out of the restaurant together.

On the way to the car, Stefan said softly, "Roxana has always been like this. She speaks without a filter and acts on a whim. Please don't take anything she says to heart."
