Mine to Shield
ELIJAH’S POV:
A WEEK LATER:
“So I saw your parents the other day….” Jacob pointed out as we were both seated in the living room waiting for Andrew.
The three of us were going to a Flyers game, I had discovered it was his favorite team though he only had knowledge based on what he and Lucas had watched together. I wasn’t much of a Flyers fan but Jacob was, and since Andrew related with him well, I thought it would only make sense. We had passes to also meet some of the players and when I shared that piece of information with Andrew, it was the first time I had seen his face light up since I had met him.
I laughed watching as he said, “Thank you! This is so amazing! But this doesn’t change things.”
He told me sternly with squinted eyes and I raised my hand in surrender and muttered, “didn’t even think it would.”
He was so excited, I had made sure my schedule was clear and my phone was switched off as I feared disappointing him.
I looked up at Jacob, and I asked dryly, “Oh yeah?”
This was the longest I had gone without seeing them, or without my mother pestering me about something or without my dad’s invitations, and I hated how comfortable I was without hearing from them. But it felt like leaving their toxicity was like such a burden and I genuinely felt so much lighter.
So even speaking about them was not something I even wanted to do because it felt like I was going to summon
He knew I was truly mad at him for keeping something that important from me and we had spoken about it. He shared that he was so embarassed and he feared that he might be actual developing feelings from Maya and it would be repulsive for him to reveal that. Right now, he was not speaking to neither his wife nor Maya, he had just apologized to the both of them making it known that nothing had happened between them but Cherry was back to work and he and Maya remained in no contact.
I had no idea if he wanted to make his marriage work or get Maya….back? I doubt he knew either.
“I’m ready!” We both turned around and grinned seeing him dressed in an all blue outfit.
He had on the Flyers blue jersey, a blue jorts and a blue sneakers. His hair was curled and he had on a board displaying “Go Flyers!”.
“I feel underdressed.” Jacob jokingly pointed out and Andrew chuckled.
