The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 74

Borrowed Peace

HANNAH’S POV:

DAYS LATER:

“Maya did what?” I was seated by the bleachers at the poolside and I was on a video call with both Maya and Lucas.

We had all been so busy with work and he had travelled to Stel, another country a three hours flight from here and it was basically for new business he was looking to work with and also to promote our business all over the world. Our marketing officer had also tagged along taking with her some of the collection and I was proud to see her wear some of it as well.

They were going to be there for about a week.

I had smiled when Lucas sent me a photo of one of the locals reading my book from the collections, I was / international in every regard. I had worked so hard on everything which is why we were thriving and doing fantastically well. After the party with Roman, many investors and tycoons had even reached out to me before I did and it made me so happy. 1

So since we had all been busy, this was the first time Lucas was hearing about the fight. And everytime I tried talking to Maya, she avoided conversation.

She would come to my office and give me a rundown on how things are going and I would say, “We need to talk about what happened. Are you okay?”

But with a professional look on her face, she would respond, “if there’s nothing else, I will leave now.”

“Yes, and why have you been avoiding me?” I inquired, watching as she took off the rollers in her hair seating in a purple robe.

“I have been so embarassed. I can’t believe I even did that. I was drunk, I was angry, hurt and jealous, a crazy person had muddy water splashed on me and had me drenched. It was a lot going on that evening and when I came to you for comfort, I had to see him there. It was like the final tick for me.” She spoke looking genuinely embarassed and I knew she felt bad, that night was really something she would never do.

But it was all too much for her.

The conversation turned lighter when Lucas narrated how he went on another date with Matteo, and as soon as Matteo found out Lucas was laying, he ordered every single thing on the menu, it was a buffet. From a ribs, to a tower of sea food, to Italian food, he requested the best wine and barely even had a conversation with Lucas the entire evening. So when it was time to pay, Lucas simply paid for his meal and left him there.

“That is such a lowlife thing to do and he had presented him as such as a successful, sophisticated man, I would never have imagined he would be like that. Guest there were staring, how he slurped and ate loudly, I was so embarrassed. One of the staffs later informed me, he was about to cry when he discovered I had left without paying and brought out ten cards to charge it to.” We laughed and I was wheezing I could barely breathe.

I could see Elijah walking towards me in nothing but beach shorts and I couldn’t help but stare at his bare broad chest, his abs that had sweat running through it. He looked good and I could just imagine my hands…my fingers running…

My thought was interrupted when he got in front of me and had a cocky smirk on his face and asked, “Like anything you see?”

I rolled my eyes in a full circle and ignored him, “Girl, what was that? You were literally drooling.”

I instantly hung up hoping he didn’t hear but he seemed to have as he laughed softly.
