The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 442

MARY'S POV:

I had been threatened with cold physical violence by his security team before. I had been threatened with police cells, with complete isolation, and with the permanent loss of every single thing I held dear in this world. But this current situation, this terrible moment right here, was completely different.

Right now, I was actively being threatened and suffocated using the fake idea of love.

And that fake, suffocating love was infinitely more terrifying than any physical threat he could ever throw at me.

Slowly, as the heavy seconds ticked by, my mind began to go completely numb, and I could no longer make out what anyone in the room was saying. All the loud voices around me faded into a dull, low roar, sounding distant, muffled, and entirely senseless. I could barely even hear the sound of my own shallow breathing anymore. The high ceilings of the living room felt like they were spinning around in circles, the white walls closing in on my shoulders, and the cold air inside my lungs growing paper-thin.

Even so, I forced the words out of my own throat.

I did not say it just once, but over and over again into the heavy air.

"I want an immediate divorce."

The repeated words came spilling out of my pale lips like a broken record, repeating endlessly in the quiet space, growing softer, weaker, and far more desperate with every single breath I took. I was not even sure if anyone standing in the room was actually listening to me anymore. I was not sure if anyone in this cold house truly cared about my pain. The heavy words felt completely hollow, empty, and meaningless, instantly swallowed up by the giant black void that had opened up inside my chest.

Beatrice seemed to reach out her hands to grab my trembling shoulders, saying something urgently to my face, her eyes wide open with deep concern, fear, and a sudden wave of frantic panic. Her soft lips were moving quickly, forming sentence after sentence, but not a single sound reached my ears anymore. A painful ringing sound echoed inside my head, a chaotic storm of muffled noises that made zero sense to my brain.

I simply could not take another single second of this torture.

I shoved my hands forward, pushing past their bodies as my legs began moving entirely on their own momentum. The whole world turned into a messy blur around me, the edges of my vision going completely dark and fuzzy. I stumbled blindly down the dimly lit hallway, my arms outstretched to touch the walls for balance, my hot breath coming in quick, ragged gasps. The floor beneath my feet felt as though it were tilting wildly back and forth.
