Luke and Greg didn't stay long. As they stood up to leave, Anne waved goodbye to them.
They walked out the door and headed toward the elevators.
"Greg." The voice came from the doorway.
Greg halted and turned back to see Max standing in the doorway. He didn't say a word.
"Felicia and I will remarry, sooner or later," Max declared.
His tone wasn't a request. It was a formal notification, warning the Ross family to abandon any thoughts of Felicia being with another man.
Greg frowned slightly before replying. "If Felicia willingly chooses you, we will, of course, respect her decision."
He paused for a moment before continuing. "However, the two of you have absolutely no connection anymore. We have already shipped all the financial ties back to the Hawthorne family. That includes the bracelet Miranda gifted her five years ago, as well as the wedding gifts the Hawthorne family originally provided. Regardless of how things ended, we are grateful for the help your family provided back then, and we have returned it in double."
Everything, including the bank cards, had been mailed straight back to Hawthorne Manor.
Upon hearing this, Max's face darkened considerably.
A brief silence descended, and the air around them seemed to freeze solid.
Greg averted his gaze, saying no more to Max. He turned to Luke. "Let's go."
Luke followed Greg toward the elevator. He went downstairs to wait in the car while Greg headed upstairs to check on Heather.
About fifteen minutes later, Greg came downstairs and walked out of the apartment complex. "Are Heather and Yara doing alright?"
"They're fine. Anne doesn't hold grudges. The two girls will definitely make up," Luke assured him.
Meanwhile, back in the upstairs apartment, Max coaxed Anne to sleep for her afternoon nap. Then, he placed a call to Hawthorne Manor. The butler answered the phone.
With a stern tone, Max interrogated the butler about Greg's claims.
"Yes, it is true," the butler answered honestly.
The Ross family's actions had indeed been surprising. After all, when Felicia had first arrived pregnant years ago, she had seemed like someone willing to abandon all dignity for money, let alone her family. Looking at it now, they actually possessed quite a bit of integrity and backbone.
However, sensing Max's current fury, the butler felt a surge of panic.
"Mrs. Hawthorne donated all the funds to charity. The bracelet was sent to a charity auction, and the rest of the items were liquidated for good causes as well. Nothing was kept."
The Ross family's return of the items might have shown backbone, but to the Hawthorne family, it was a profound insult. Naturally, they couldn't keep the money or the belongings.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
