It was true that the most exceptional people often demonstrated the deepest respect for others, while those with nothing to their name tended to carry themselves with arrogant ignorance. Watching the pair walk away left the tourism staff feeling nothing but pure envy.
Around that same time, Felicia and Jeremy finally made it back to their hotel. The day had been utterly exhausting. After washing up and getting ready for bed, Felicia collapsed onto the mattress, her entire body aching with fatigue. Just as she was preparing to sleep, she picked up her phone to check her messages.
She had chatted with Anne that morning, mentioning her plans to go sightseeing. Anne had excitedly demanded to see pictures of the scenery. Felicia quickly uploaded the videos of the festival performances and the scenic photos into their group chat, knowing the little girl was likely already asleep at this hour. Just as she set the phone down on the nightstand, it suddenly began to ring. Max was calling.
Felicia swiped to answer. "Hello."
"Who did you go out with today?" Max asked directly.
Seeing no reason to hide anything, she answered with total honesty. "I went out with Jeremy."
"Just the two of you?" His tone was remarkably flat, making it impossible to read his emotions.
Felicia offered a quiet hum of confirmation. "Savannah was feeling under the weather, so she stayed behind."
"Are you not going home yet?" Max pressed.
"I am staying at a hotel tonight. I will head back tomorrow evening."
"How long is Jeremy staying in Cloudville?"
"I am not sure," Felicia replied honestly. "It depends entirely on his personal work schedule."
As her words faded, a heavy, suffocating silence fell over the line. Felicia gripped her phone tightly, waiting for him to speak. When no sound came, she finally broke the quiet. "If there is nothing else, I am going to hang up now. I really need to get some rest."
"Alright. Get some sleep," Max murmured.
The call disconnected. Felicia lowered her phone, staring at the darkened screen for a moment before placing it back on the nightstand and turning off the lamp. Perhaps because the day had been so physically draining, she managed to fall asleep almost instantly.
Felicia immediately shot the idea down. "I think I will pass on that."
Jeremy let out a soft laugh. They spent the rest of the day exploring at a leisurely pace before beginning their drive back to the city at four in the afternoon. Exhausted, Felicia leaned her head against the car seat and quickly drifted off to sleep. While she rested, Darin called Jeremy's phone.
"Are you on your way back yet?" Darin asked.
"Yes, we are on the road now," Jeremy replied quietly.
"Perfect. Let us all grab dinner together when you arrive."
"Sounds good."
Darin lowered his phone and let out a long breath. He and Max had briefly discussed official business the day befor. When he learned Felicia was out alone with Jeremy, he hadn’t contacted him.

Take her back? Want to see her?? Donno about Felicia but I think I’m falling for this Max somehow🫠🙈pls update daily...
I knew it! Hopefully Felicia's health will improve and will want to have the baby. Oh how I despise Max's family....
Please post *I forgot I ever loved you*...
Is this coming to an end...
Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
