Felicia picked up the phone. The moment he spoke, her impatient voice immediately cut him off. "Max, can you just give it a rest for once."
Max paused, his fingers tightening slightly around his coffee cup. "Who upset you this time? Did work not go well today?"
Hearing his gentle, probing tone only intensified the restless frustration bubbling inside her, giving her nowhere to vent. She took a deep breath to steady herself. "What do you want?"
"Nothing much," Max replied smoothly. "Are you getting used to sleeping over there? Is there anything specific you are craving?"
Felicia's daily life in Cloudville was currently being managed from every possible angle. Her meals were carefully monitored by a nanny who adjusted the menu in real time, utilizing expensive ingredients flown in fresh from the source. She gripped her phone tighter as the man's voice drifted through the receiver again. "I sent over two bottles of fine wine that were just unsealed from the cellar. Try them out, and if you like the taste, I will send more."
"Max," she called out, her voice exceptionally heavy and serious. "You really do not need to do all this."
A brief silence hung over the line. After a few seconds, Max's steady voice returned. "Your body has not fully recovered yet, so do not overthink things."
After ending the call, Max set his phone down and immediately dialed Darin's number. The call connected almost instantly.
"What is it?" Darin asked.
Max cut straight to the chase. "You went to see her today?"
Darin hesitated for a fraction of a second. "How did you know?"
Nobody would have dared to report his visit to Max, and Felicia certainly would not have offered up that information willingly. Realizing Max was likely just guessing based on a recent conversation with Felicia, Darin silently breathed a sigh of relief.
Max noted the guarded tone and let out a faint smirk. "Why so tense?"
Colton could not help but urge her. "Felicia, your brother truly knows he was made some terrible mistakes. Life has not been easy for him these past few years. He always wanted to find us, but his situation with the Curtis family was precarious. He lived in constant fear every single day. I was foolish back then, but your brother was worried something exactly like that would happen, which is why he never dared to show his face."
If the guarantee agreement had surfaced any earlier, the Curtis family would have absolutely used it to control Darin. The only reason their plan failed was because they had completely misjudged Darin's hidden leverage. Colton spoke with earnest gravity, hoping to bridge the gap between his children.
"Darin was just terrified of dragging you down, which is why he told us to keep you in the dark. He feels incredibly guilty. Felicia, just give him one chance."
"I understand, Dad," Felicia said quietly.
Knowing not to push too hard, Colton softly conceded. "Alright, I will not bother you anymore. Get some rest tonight."
Felicia murmured an agreement and set her phone down. Her gaze drifted toward the television screen, but the images entirely failed to register. Pushing herself up from the couch, she walked out onto the balcony and looked out into the dark, sprawling night. She took a deep breath, her heart suddenly tangled in an inexplicable mess of restless thoughts.

Take her back? Want to see her?? Donno about Felicia but I think I’m falling for this Max somehow🫠🙈pls update daily...
I knew it! Hopefully Felicia's health will improve and will want to have the baby. Oh how I despise Max's family....
Please post *I forgot I ever loved you*...
Is this coming to an end...
Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
