Dannie stepped forward and stopped in front of the desk. Looking at Max, she called out, "Mr. Hawthorne."
Max raised his eyes to look at her. "What brings you here?"
Dannie replied, "First, I came today to thank you, Mr. Hawthorne. Second, I have something to tell you. Something you do not know yet."
After the previous internet scandal, Jeremy was going to sue her, which would have dragged the Lowe family projects down with it. Max had someone step in and handle the matter for her. She had decided to leave the country for good today. She paused for a moment before continuing, "Felicia is pregnant."
Max widened his eyes in shock. His handsome face tensed, and his voice seemed coated in a layer of frost. "How do you know?"
Seeing Max react this way, Dannie realized Felicia still had not confessed this to him. This meant the child in her belly might not even be his. A wave of disdain washed over Dannie. She secretly exhaled and answered truthfully, "Back in Cloudville, I accidentally ran into her at the hospital. I overheard a conversation between her and a nurse, so I know she is pregnant. She should not be very far along, so I do not know exactly when she got pregnant."
Max stared with dark eyes that made it impossible to read his thoughts. "Leave."
Hearing Max speak so coldly, Dannie wanted to say more but did not dare. She nodded and said, "Thank you for your help, Mr. Hawthorne. I hope everything goes smoothly for you in the future."
After speaking, Dannie turned and left the office. Max leaned back in his chair. His breathing became exceptionally heavy, and his dark eyes were as still as a bottomless freezing pool.
Meanwhile, at a mountain retreat in a neighboring city, the only road up the mountain was heavily guarded. No outside vehicles were allowed to enter. A black sedan slowly drove up and was stopped. The car window rolled down, revealing Ivy sitting in the back seat. The security guard did not recognize her. Before he could speak, Ivy said directly, "Call your person in charge. I will speak to him."
The security guard was taken aback by her confidence. "Miss, no outsiders are allowed here."
Ivy replied, "Am I, the daughter of the Manning family, considered an outsider now?"

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
