"You really do not have a single pleasant thing to say, do you?" Wyatt replied, rolling his eyes. "It is a good thing I know you well enough not to take it personally."
Max shot him a withering look before selecting two dishes and handing the phone back. Wyatt took it, locking the screen as he cut straight to the chase. "Did you get into a fight with Felicia today?"
Max's face darkened, but he remained silent.
Wyatt let out an exasperated sigh. "I really do not know what to do with you anymore. You are acting completely irrational, letting your emotions dictate your every move. You really have fallen for her, haven't you?"
Max flinched, his eyes darting sharply toward Wyatt.
"What? Are you seriously going to deny it?" Wyatt pressed.
Max picked up a plastic cup to take a sip of water, but abruptly set it back down, turning his head to glare at the busy street instead.
Wyatt leaned back in his flimsy chair, eyeing his friend with a mixture of amusement and pity. "Never thought I would see the day you lost your cool over a woman. Let me get this straight. You have absolutely no right to lose your temper with Felicia. Take a good look at your own actions. After that massive scandal with Andrea, it would be entirely justified if Felicia decided to move on with Jeremy right this second."
Max snapped his gaze back to Wyatt, his jaw clenching. "Did you bring me here just to lecture me?"
"Do you honestly think I have nothing better to do?" Wyatt shot back. "I could be at home with my wife and daughter. Instead, I am sitting out here in the cold with a miserable divorcé. So yes, I am here to lecture you."
Max scowled, clearly offended by Wyatt's blunt terminology.
Wyatt let out a heavy sigh, his tone shifting into something far more serious. "Max, if you genuinely want to be with her, stop doing things that push her further away. If you want real affection, you have to look at what you are actually bringing to the table. You cannot just keep demanding things without offering anything in return. I saw her earlier today. She did not look well at all. She is a shell of who she used to be, and it is all because of the hell you have put her through. Once a person's heart is truly broken, it is incredibly difficult to piece back together. She endured endless humiliation from you and the Hawthorne family, yet she still showed up to your grandfather's funeral to pay her respects. Stop doing things you are going to regret for the rest of your life."
The moment the chauffeur shifted into park, the air pressure inside the cabin plummeted. The temperature seemed to drop ten degrees, sending a violent shiver down the driver's spine. "We are here, sir," the driver announced, his voice trembling slightly.
Max did not respond. Through the windshield, the driver quickly identified the source of his boss's murderous aura. It was Jeremy, standing patiently by the front door.
A few minutes later, Felicia emerged from the house. Her face lit up with a soft smile as she greeted him. "Jeremy."
Jeremy beamed back at her. "It seems Ava really knows how to take care of you. Being back home has definitely brought some color back to your cheeks."
Felicia's smile widened. "Come on in and sit for a bit. Darin just got back too. He is in the living room."
Jeremy gladly accepted the invitation. He actually had some business he wanted to discuss with Uncle Greg anyway. As they stepped inside together, Felicia reached out to pull the heavy oak door shut. Just before it clicked into place, her peripheral vision caught the unmistakable gleam of a Rolls-Royce parked idling in the shadows across the street.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
