The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1038
Once the vehicle came to a complete stop, Felicia sat in the back seat, her heart pounding erratically. Her hand instinctively drifted to her lower abdomen. Cold sweat beaded on her forehead, and her breathing grew sharp and shallow.
"Miss, are you alright?" the driver asked, genuinely concerned by her pale complexion.
Felicia swallowed hard, forcing herself to focus. "I am fine," she managed to say.
The driver pushed his door open, stepped out, and marched furiously toward the offending vehicle, immediately screaming at the other driver. Before Felicia could even open her own door, it was suddenly pulled open from the outside.
"Ms. Ross," a voice called out.
Felicia turned her head and recognized the driver Max had originally assigned to take her home. Since he was strictly following his boss's orders, he had trailed her taxi to ensure she made it home safely, even though she had refused his ride. Seeing her sitting there unharmed brought him immense relief.
"Please step out of the car, Ms. Ross. It is not safe here," he urged.
Felicia gathered her bearings and slowly climbed out. Kennedy had also pulled up and hurried over to check on her. "Are you hurt?" he asked anxiously.
Felicia completely ignored him once again, keeping her eyes fixed elsewhere. She ultimately accepted the Hawthorne driver's offer and got into his car. "Take me to the nearest hospital," she instructed.
Noticing her sickly pallor, the driver grew alarmed. "Are you injured somewhere?"
Felicia leaned her head against the seat back and did not answer. The driver dared not waste another second, speeding toward the nearest hospital. Upon arriving, Felicia explicitly forbade him from following her inside. Left with no choice, he waited in the ground floor lobby and quickly dialed Max's number.
The call connected. "Sir."
"What happened?" Max demanded.
The driver quickly explained the situation. "I do not know what happened to Ms. Ross. She is inside the hospital now, but she refused to let me follow her. From what I could see, she did not sustain any external injuries."
Max's gaze swept over her, searching for any visible injuries. "Are you hurt?" he asked.
"I am fine," Felicia replied quietly.
"Show me the medical report," Max demanded.
Felicia was incredibly relieved she had not kept the physical copy. She had torn it up and thrown it away, mostly because she had not wanted Ava and the others to find it and worry.
"I am perfectly fine. You should go back," she told him. She looked down, pulled her phone from her purse, and dialed Dean's number again.
Max did not move an inch, simply standing there and watching her finish the call.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
