The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1022

"Let's go then," Darin said, stepping forward.

They returned to the banquet hall. Darin found Mr. Tate and exchanged a few words with him. Mr. and Mrs. Tate looked at Savannah, who stood beside Darin, and she greeted them politely. Afterward, Savannah left with Darin.

Sitting in Darin's car, Savannah sent a text to Finley.

"What do you want to have ?" Darin asked.

Savannah put her phone down, thinking for a moment. "Let's go to that new Coastal Grill on Forting Avenue."

Half an hour later, they were seated inside the restaurant.

While waiting for the food, Savannah asked, "How is Mrs. Curtis doing?"

Darin looked up at her. "She's fine."

"So she really doesn't plan to acknowledge Felicia at all?"

"It's for the best. There's no point in a reunion." Even if she apologized and showed remorse, it would be meaningless. He would rather Felicia act as if she never had a mother, since they wouldn't have any future interactions anyway.

Savannah just felt heartbroken for Felicia. She couldn't fathom what Mrs. Curtis was thinking to be so ruthless, but Darin's words made sense.

The dishes were served. Savannah took out her phone and snapped a picture. Darin watched her silently.

"It's not every day you treat me to a meal. I have to document the moment," Savannah said.

Darin said nothing, simply letting her take her photos.

Savannah sent the picture to Felicia with a message: Guess who's buying me dinner?

Felicia, who was currently watching television with Anne, saw the photo and replied: Do I even need to guess when it's that obvious?

Felicia didn't reply. Max had just sent another message: I'm returning to the country on the 23rd.

That was a week away. The 23rd. His birthday. Even though she desperately wanted to block out everything about him, the memories etched into her mind couldn't just be erased. Felicia stared at the screen, ultimately leaving his message unread. She set her phone aside and noticed Anne yawning. "Sleepy, sweetheart? Let me tuck you in."

Anne nodded. Felicia turned off the television and led her daughter back to the bedroom to coax her to sleep.

Meanwhile, in New York, Max got into his car and checked his phone. Still no reply from Felicia. His eyes darkened as he slipped the phone back into his pocket. She couldn't run from him, but he still had critical business to handle here first.

The car had barely traveled a short distance when the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes. The abrupt halt threw Max forward, forcing him to brace his hands against the front seat.

"Sir, someone just ran in front of the car," the driver said urgently.

Max looked up and saw the woman standing in front of the vehicle. "Go deal with it," he ordered coldly.

The driver stepped out. Andrea immediately ran to the rear passenger door, yanked it open, and looked at the man inside. "Max!" she cried, her voice brimming with desperate affection.
