The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1019

Finley lifted his chin slightly, feigning sternness. "Show some respect, young lady."

"Oh, I know, I know," Savannah replied breezily.

After Darin stepped out of the restroom, Mr. Lane spotted him and hurried over. "Mr. Foxhall, I am incredibly sorry for the mishap. I have already had my staff prepare a clean shirt for you. Please go change first." The front of Darin's shirt was completely soaked through from the spilled wine. He originally intended to decline and excuse himself for the evening, but Mr. Lane quickly added, "Mr. Tate just arrived, and he was just asking where you were."

Hearing that name, Darin swallowed his refusal. Mr. Lane immediately instructed the butler to escort Darin upstairs to change his clothes. As he climbed the sweeping staircase, a figure on the floor below caught his peripheral vision. He paused his steps, tilting his head to look down, and instantly spotted Savannah leaning casually against a cocktail table. A young man was currently chatting her up, though Darin could not make out what they were discussing.

"Mr. Foxhall," the butler called out softly, noticing he had stopped.

Darin shifted his gaze away and continued his ascent.

Upon arriving at the private guest suite, he found Fiona walking toward him, holding a fresh shirt.

"Miss Lane," the butler greeted respectfully.

Fiona gave a subtle nod and approached Darin, offering the garment with both hands. "Darin, please change into this."

Darin stared at the shirt she held out, making no move to take it. Just as he opened his mouth to address the butler instead, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw Felicia's name on the screen. He answered immediately, his tone turning exceptionally gentle. "Felicia."

Standing off to the side, Fiona watched as he uttered another woman's name with such care. The icy indifference on his face vanished in an instant, replaced by a captivating warmth in his eyes. She could not help but wonder who exactly was on the other end of the line.

The butler looked at her sympathetically, unsure of how to comfort the young heiress. "Miss Lane, please hand the shirt to me for now."

Fiona angrily shoved the garment bag into the butler's chest, taking a step forward to barge into the room.

The butler hastily blocked her path. "Miss Lane, please calm down. If you offend Mr. Foxhall, it will be very difficult for you to explain the situation to Mr. Lane."

Swallowing her pride, Fiona finally forced herself to back down. She spun on her heel and stormed away down the corridor. Once she was out of sight, the butler quietly ordered a staff member to bring up a brand new outfit.

Inside the lounge, Darin sat comfortably on the sofa, waiting in silence. It did not take long for the butler to return with a fresh, pristine shirt. He placed it neatly on the table and politely excused himself. Darin changed into the dry clothes and finally exited the room to rejoin the gala.
