Hearing someone call out the name, Fiona turned toward the sound and saw Savannah. The woman was dressed in a perfectly tailored strapless satin gown, free of unnecessary embellishments, with a striking blue sapphire necklace resting against her collarbone. Her long, wavy hair cascaded down her back, and her bold, glamorous makeup perfectly complemented her radiant, poised presence. Fiona stared at her, unable to hide the deep disgust and jealousy brewing in her eyes. She could not believe Savannah actually had the nerve to show up.
Savannah was in the middle of a conversation with another guest.
"Savannah, you missed seeing Fiona fawning all over him just now," the guest murmured. "Darin Foxhall completely ignored her."
Savannah and Fiona had always been at odds, and Savannah almost never attended galas hosted by the Lane family. Of course, this was a strictly private feud between the younger generation. The invitation had originally been sent to her father, Finley, but Savannah had only decided to tag along upon hearing that Darin would be in attendance tonight. Sensing Fiona's hostile gaze, Savannah lifted her eyes to meet it. Fiona's expression instantly froze, and she spun around to walk away.
"Where is Darin?" Savannah asked. Darin had just stepped out of the banquet hall right as she arrived.
"A waiter accidentally spilled wine on his suit," her companion replied. "I am not sure where he went."
Savannah curled her lips into a cold smile. That sounded like a rather convenient accident.
Finley finished greeting some acquaintances and walked over to his daughter. The two stepped aside for some privacy. "Dad, what is it?" Savannah asked.
"A lot of people are here tonight specifically for Darin," Finley noted quietly. He had no objections to Savannah wanting to win Darin back. Over the past few years, he had introduced her to countless eligible bachelors, and she had even dated a few, but absolutely nothing had worked out.
Finley knew deep down that she simply could not let go of Darin. Now that Darin had completely established his independence, he was a truly exceptional man. He was young, highly accomplished, and maintained an impeccable reputation. Honestly, who wouldn't want someone like him as a son-in-law?
"Alright, alright." Savannah cut him off with a wave of her hand. "Dad, do not be so dramatic. You are getting way ahead of yourself." She had not even made any real progress with Darin yet.
"Fine," Finley sighed playfully. "Since you feel that way, I suppose I will not invite him over for dinner after all."
Savannah's expression shifted immediately, and she nudged his shoulder. "Are you trying to use reverse psychology on me?"
Finley gave his daughter a knowing look.
Savannah quickly hooked her arm through his, flashing a charming smile. "Then I will have to ask my dearest father for a little favor!"

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
