The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 1015

For now, he could only look at her through the glass window of the ICU.

"Darin."

Darin turned around to see Allen walking down the corridor toward him. The younger man looked noticeably thinner and more exhausted. Allen stopped in front of Darin. "When did you arrive?"

"Just now," Darin replied. "Why are you here this late?"

"I just finished dinner with a client, so I stopped by on my way home," Allen explained. "Mom is out of the woods. She can be moved to a regular room tomorrow for her treatment."

Darin gave a brief nod. The two men sat down on a bench outside the ward.

"Mom will be really comforted when she sees you tomorrow," Allen said softly.

Hearing this, Darin's expression remained entirely blank. He effortlessly shifted the topic, asking about Allen's recent progress at work.

The condition Darin had negotiated with the old Mr. Curtis was that Allen needed to prove himself first. Since it was summer vacation, Allen had started at the very bottom as a grassroots sales representative. None of his colleagues knew his true identity. In just the first half of the month, Allen had successfully closed two deals entirely on his own. Even though today was a weekend, he had not taken a day off.

"The weather is brutally hot right now. You need to rest on the weekends," Darin advised. "There's no need to rush things this frantically."

"This client is flying out of the country tomorrow morning, so I had no choice," Allen replied.

"I see."

Aside from discussing Yvonne's condition and his job, Allen purposefully did not bring up Andrea. Ever since her engagement to Holden was officially annulled, Andrea had suffered severe mental breakdowns. She had become incredibly violent and hysterical. Yvonne had poured all her energy into managing her care, accompanying her through treatment until Andrea's condition finally stabilized.

Eventually, Darin broached the subject himself. "How is Andrea doing lately?"

Allen answered honestly. "She went to America a while ago to recover."

Darin frowned. "Does she know about Mom's situation?"

"Do you know exactly where she's recovering?" Darin asked.

"She's in New York right now," Allen replied. "But I don't know the exact location."

Darin gave a curt nod and did not press further. It was getting late. The chauffeur had already returned to the hospital after dropping Savannah off. The two brothers took the elevator down to the lobby. Darin ordered the driver to drop Allen off at his apartment complex. Allen currently lived alone and had not moved back into the Curtis family estate.

When they arrived at the complex, Allen pushed the car door open. He paused, turning back to look at Darin. "Are you really never going to acknowledge her as your sister again?"

Darin looked at him. After a moment of silence, he replied softly, "I just hope she finally understands that she needs to settle down and live a quiet life."

Allen nodded, choosing not to ask anything else. "Have a safe trip."

"Yeah."

Allen closed the car door, and the driver smoothly pulled away. Darin pulled out his phone and dialed Max's number.
