Anne was already dozing off. Since Felicia could not carry her, she had to gently wake the little girl. Darin stood by, his hands full of shopping bags. As Anne rubbed her eyes, she noticed the vibrant bouquet in her mother's hands.
"Wow, so pretty," Anne gasped in awe. "Did Daddy give those to you?"
Felicia had to admit her daughter was remarkably perceptive. Choosing not to answer directly, she simply smiled. "Let's go home."
Once they headed upstairs and stepped inside the apartment, Darin placed the groceries on the kitchen counter and left them for Mabel to handle. Felicia pointed him toward the guest bedroom where Max used to sleep, then guided Anne to the bathroom to wash up.
Spotting two little kittens wandering nearby, Darin washed his hands and bent down to play with them. His phone rang with a work call. After giving a few brief instructions, he ended the call and opened his messages. A new notification from Max glowed on the screen, showing a direct transfer of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
Darin let out a low chuckle and typed a quick reply. 'You really don't need to thank me. But if you wanted to add a few more zeros to that number, I wouldn't mind accepting it.' After the message was sent, Max did not reply.
Felicia finished bathing Anne and got her dressed for bed, then went to the kitchen to prepare a warm cup of milk. While Darin retreated to his room to settle in, Anne scurried over to the living room to admire the bouquet of roses.
"Mommy, the roses are so beautiful," Anne said, turning her head. "Do you like them?"
Felicia looked up at her daughter. A helpless smile touched her lips. "I like them quite a bit."
Anne ran over to the dining table, resting both hands on the edge as she looked up at her mother. "If Daddy knew you liked them, he definitely wouldn't throw a temper tantrum anymore."
Felicia tested the temperature of the milk. Finding it perfect, she walked over to Anne, pulled out a chair, and sat down. She gently patted the little girl's head. "You really are the sweetest little angel for your father." Perhaps because she had grown up following her father around, Anne was incredibly attuned to Max's moods.
Anne threw herself into her mother's embrace, tilting her little head back. "I'm Mommy's little angel, too."
Felicia smiled affectionately and reached for the glass. "Drink your milk first." Anne took the glass and leaned comfortably against her mother, holding it with both hands as she took slow sips.
"Felicia, I dare you to throw away a single thing," Max warned darkly.
Felicia let out a cold scoff. "I'm going to throw your flowers out right now. I'd love to see exactly what you're going to do about it." With that, she began walking toward the living room.
Seemingly sensing her movement through the phone, Max gritted his teeth. "Felicia!"
"Why are you yelling?" Felicia asked, coming to a halt right in front of the coffee table.
Just then, Darin stepped out of his bedroom, freshly changed, and stopped to look at her.
On the other end of the line, Max gripped his phone tighter, his voice dropping to a dangerous register. "If you dare throw them away, I will call Anne right now."

Take her back? Want to see her?? Donno about Felicia but I think I’m falling for this Max somehow🫠🙈pls update daily...
I knew it! Hopefully Felicia's health will improve and will want to have the baby. Oh how I despise Max's family....
Please post *I forgot I ever loved you*...
Is this coming to an end...
Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
