"Alright, Mom, I'm busy right now. We'll talk later." Jeremy hung up the phone abruptly.
Felicia looked at him and asked, "What did your mother want?"
"It's nothing," Jeremy replied. "You go ahead and get back to work."
"Alright," Felicia said, standing up and leaving the room.
Jeremy leaned back in his chair, took off his glasses, and rubbed the bridge of his nose. He dropped his hand and let out a cold laugh, his expression turning icy. Max truly was shameless. After a long silence, he reached for his phone again and dialed a number.
Anthony answered the call with a teasing tone. "You finally decided to call me. Are you looking for my help?"
The two had spoken the night before. They had discussed company matters first. With Anthony handling things on that end, Jeremy could free up some time. The conversation had then shifted to Felicia's divorce from Max. Naturally, Anthony encouraged him to make his move quickly. Women needed emotional comfort the most after a divorce, making this the perfect opportunity. But Jeremy had zero interest in listening to his ridiculous advice.
Jeremy was in no mood for banter. His tone was dead serious. "I've reviewed the Vanguard Bio-Research Initiative. Secure it for me, no matter what it takes."
This was also BlueMarble Investments' key project for the year. When news of Max's accident broke earlier, countless people had set their sights on this massive piece of the pie. Logically, Roen Capital should have moved immediately to seize it, but Jeremy had shown no reaction. Naturally, other companies were too afraid to jump in recklessly, fearing a hidden trap. Once the news broke that Max was perfectly fine, those people felt a wave of delayed terror. If they had acted hastily, they would have only faced Max's retaliation. Sure enough, Roen Capital must have known the truth all along.
Sensing that Jeremy's tone was off, Anthony instantly dropped his playful demeanor. "What's going on? What did Max do?"
During the time Max was incapacitated, if Jeremy had wanted to strike, he could have easily gouged a massive chunk of flesh out of BlueMarble Investments. It would have been more than enough to make Max suffer upon his return. Of course, that wasn't Jeremy's style.
Jeremy read the message, then set his phone aside.
When it was time to get off work, Jeremy invited Felicia to watch a movie. He had already booked the tickets.
Felicia hesitated for a moment before finally agreeing. "Alright."
A new movie had just premiered, but the theater wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. Jeremy picked up the tickets and bought a large bucket of popcorn.
"Let's go," he said.

Oh nooo!! Don’t tell me Max will get washed ashore on a remote island then loses all his memory, then falls inlove with the local girl who saves him. Then when he meets Felicia again he won’t recognize her and breaks her heart again. Additional plot twist is that Felicia is pregnant with their 2nd child. Please pleaseee don’t give us this scenario.. LOL!!!...
If Max can be forgiven Darrin can be forgiven. And I do not like this marriage business but if it has to happen I hope after he gets stranded on some remote island alone while Felicia and his family fight over custody she wins and also gets half his estate. Then by time he comes back she's found having and remarried. Lol...
The writer is good. They're making me interested in Max. I won't say like yet....
It seems the only one who hasn't suffered is Max. Even his family fakes anger and disappointment all their own doing so they suffer a little. Everyone else has suffered. Luke and Jeremy unrequited. Felicia has suffered the most from family to unrequited to romance to long suffering Mother. Even baby Anne never had a mother til Felicia suffered then came back only to suffer some more. lol...
Oh no what did Colton do?... I have a bone to pick. When Olisha had to go the hospital why beg for Felicia? When she so loved Max? Seemed like she was in on the setup for Felicia to see a suicide for the 2nd time orchestrated by holden and his brother again. I might drop this series it's becoming endless with no real satisfaction for me. I don't need it to end because it's like a soap opera but if things don't end up making sense, tying up loose storylines it's gonna get old fast for me. Good luck author....
Anne, I think your baby brother is on the way. Thank goodness it doesn't say that Felicia is crying just like the last time but still, there's no willingness on her part. Max! You need to try harder. Make her fall in love with you again....
