Chapter 87
Scarlett swung her heavy handbag, smashing it furiously into the man’s head again and
again.
Jonah went rigid, slowly turning his head. Without a second thought, Vivian grabbed Scarlett’s hand and bolted. “Run!”
The club entrance was crowded with cars and people. The two women sprinted in high heels, their skirts billowing wildly in the wind.
The crowd instinctively parted for them, watching with curiosity and awe.
They wondered which domineering billionaire’s trophy wife was causing such a scene.
But in that moment-
Vivian and Scarlett were both plastered against an alley wall, completely out of breath and looking nothing like elegant socialites.
“I can’t believe this… who the hell was that guy? Why are you so terrified of him?” Scarlett panted, looking deeply frustrated with her. “You aren’t scared of me, you aren’t scared of Silas, but you’re scared of him?”
Vivian waved a hand dismissively. “It’s not fear.”
In terms of social status, Scarlett and Jonah were probably on a similar level.
But that man was far too unpredictable; there was no telling what he might do.
Scarlett tilted her head, her long hair tumbling over one shoulder. “Then what is it?”
Feeling parched, Vivian simply squatted down on the ground.
“I can’t beat him in a fight.”
Scarlett stared.
Her breathing hitched, and she looked down at Vivian as if she’d seen a ghost. “You laid out a whole gang of men the other day, and today it’s just one guy, and you’re telling me you can’t beat him?”
Vivian didn’t explain further, stating firmly, “Scarlett, don’t tell anyone about this.”
This?
Which part?
It took a second for Scarlett to realize she was talking about the fight.
“Why can’t I tell anyone?”
Chapter 87
“No reason.”
Vivian’s expression was unreadable as she stood up, her stunning features illuminated by the streetlamp. “If Silas or anyone else finds out, I’m holding you responsible.”
Scarlett: “??”
Was this woman actually threatening her?
Just as Scarlett was about to blow up, a car approached from a distance, its high beams blinding them.
Zoe stepped out from the driver’s side.
“Boss.”
Vivian murmured an acknowledgment and turned, offering Scarlett a hand. “Come on, let’s get you home.”
Scarlett didn’t even know if she should be mad. When did she call her driver?
Ignoring the outstretched hand, Scarlett climbed into the car on her own.
Once Zoe started the engine, Scarlett’s annoyed voice finally broke the silence.
“Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re pretty!”
Vivian remained silent.
The ride was completely quiet.
Following the previous address, Zoe pulled up and announced, “Boss, we’re here.”
Scarlett secretly studied the woman next to her. Vivian had her eyes closed, and it was unclear if she was asleep, but the slight frown on her face and the stray strand of hair falling over her brow gave her an inexplicably heartbreaking aura.
She looked away and said stiffly, “I’ll get on that thing I promised as soon as I can. Wait for my word.”
With that, she got out.
The door slammed shut with a heavy thud.
The muscles in Vivian’s cheek twitched imperceptibly.
That was the luxury of being a true heiress. They had the absolute confidence to do whatever
they wanted, without the need for schemes or carefully calculated moves.
But she was standing alone in the fog, with no choice but to keep pushing forward.
After tonight’s incident, Jonah definitely wouldn’t let this go.
Chapter 87
Vivian had imagined countless scenarios of him showing up, but she never expected that when she pushed open her office door the next day, she’d find him sitting right at her desk.
“How… did you get in here?”
The man flashed a chilling smile. “Vivian, what kind of question is that?”
“Do you really think there’s anywhere I can’t get into?”
Of course not.
Jonah had wealth and power; if he wanted to, he could probably bribe the devil himself.
Vivian’s grip on the doorknob tightened as she debated whether to just walk back out.
In that brief hesitation, Jonah slowly stood up, walked over to her, grabbed her hand off the knob, and casually kicked the door shut.
