Old Mr. Sterling wasn't the least bit surprised by his response. He let out a cold laugh. "Then we'll just have to wait and see if you end up marrying her or not!"
Hanging up, Silas's dark gaze focused sharply on a single point as he stood in the hallway for a moment.
After a brief pause, he turned back inside.
His grandfather had already pulled quite a few strings to force him into this marriage.
Today's phone call was practically a declaration of war.
It seemed his days ahead would be anything but peaceful.
When he returned to the private room, Simon had successfully drunk Victor Wyatt under the table. His assistant was just getting ready to take him home.
After exchanging a few polite farewells, they went their separate ways.
"Boss, should I take you home?"
After asking, Simon subconsciously glanced toward the adjacent room, muttering under his breath, "I wonder how much longer they'll be... Maybe I'll get to see that gorgeous boss again."
A cool, sarcastic voice sounded beside him. "You want to look so bad? You want her autograph?"
"..."
How could he say that?
Simon grumbled quietly, "You're only saying that because you can't see her right now. If you did, you wouldn't be talking like this."
Almost the second the words left his mouth, the door to the neighboring room opened.
People staggered out one after another, their arms slung around each other's shoulders.
But even after the crowd thinned out, Simon still hadn't spotted the most important figure.
He tilted his head and whispered, "Where's the boss? Did she drink too much?"
Through the crack in the door, a woman's languid, effortless silhouette could vaguely be seen. She rested one hand on the table, exuding an indescribably seductive charm.
Guided by sheer instinct, Silas shot a glance in that direction.
He was calling her 'boss' pretty affectionately, wasn't he?
"Let's go."
Simon pulled his gaze away, chuckling like a man desperate for gossip. "Boss, are you absolutely sure you don't want me to go ask for her number?"
The man inhaled sharply and ground his teeth. "If you want to die, just say the word."
On the way back, Vivian's phone rang several times in quick succession. Annoyed by the noise, she finally picked it up to look.
Even without a saved name, she recognized Jonah's number instantly.
As the crown prince of Northside's Granger Family, tracking down her contact information was child's play for him.
Vivian let out a scoff and swiftly blocked the number.
"We're here, Miss Fairchild."
Zoe announced as she stepped out to open the door for her.
"It's fine." Vivian shook her head, waving off Zoe's outstretched hand. "I can make it upstairs myself. You head home and get some rest."
Zoe wasn't entirely convinced. "Miss Fairchild..."
"Stop nagging!"
"..."
Watching the woman stumble toward the building, Zoe was still worried. She waited until Vivian disappeared through the front doors before finally leaving.
Vivian had no idea what was wrong with her. She had drank so much, yet she felt completely wide awake.
