Vivian quickly scanned their surroundings. "Ten bodyguards. If you're a good fighter, we might have a slim chance. I'll just focus on running. But... can you actually take them?"
Silas's eyes darkened, his heavy gaze landing squarely on her.
"You can't even handle one?"
"Of course I can't! Look at the size of them!"
Vivian gave him a look that practically screamed, *Are you out of your mind?* Meeting his intense stare, she lowered her voice. "Why are you looking at me like that? Isn't it perfectly normal that I can't take down a giant wall of muscle?"
"...Never mind."
Silas ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek. "Or, we don't have to fight at all."
"Huh?" What did he mean by that?
Vivian paused. The moment she realized he might be planning to ditch her and bolt, her eyes flew wide open. She grabbed onto his arm and clung tight. "Silas, don't you dare!"
The man shot her a fleeting glance but remained silent.
They got into the car.
They were heading right back to the original hotel. If they were just going to end up exactly where they started, why did they go through the exhausting ordeal of switching locations this morning?
And that assistant of his.
The second things got dicey, he was nowhere to be found.
Vivian complained internally, but the ride was smooth, and before long, she drifted off to sleep, her head naturally lolling sideways to rest against the shoulder of the man beside her.
Silas didn't move an inch. He simply let her lean on him.
His deep, shadowed eyes remained fixed on the dazzling city skyline outside the window, lost in thought.
Before they knew it, they had arrived.
The exact moment the brakes engaged, Vivian's eyes snapped open.
Silas's gaze swept over her imperceptibly. This wasn't the first time she had exhibited such sharp reflexes.
Under normal circumstances, a deeply sleeping person wouldn't jolt awake with such acute awareness. Vivian's reaction was purely instinctual, meaning that even in her sleep, a part of her brain remained highly strung, constantly monitoring her surroundings.
A bodyguard opened the door from the outside, and Silas stepped out first.
"Hey, give me a hand."
He ignored her.
