The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 420

"What's going on?"

"Can't you tell? House arrest."

"Oh."

Scarlett rejoiced for a brief moment before suddenly frowning and letting out a frustrated groan. "I knew something was off! This Vivian is the Vaughan family heiress! She lied to me!"

Hearing this, Sloan slowly turned his head to look at her.

"..."

What did that look mean?

"Don't tell me you already knew?"

Sloan didn't bother answering. He downed the rest of the wine in his glass, raised a hand, and smacked the back of her head. "Let's go, little boss."

Scarlett was marched out by the back of her neck, gritting her teeth and hissing in a hushed voice, "Sloan Mercer, let go of me! We are going to have words!"

Given that she was attending a gala, Scarlett had dressed meticulously. She looked every inch the glamorous, stunning heiress.

But currently being dragged along by Sloan.

And struggling relentlessly.

It wasn't exactly the most dignified exit.

They stormed into the car like a whirlwind of lightning and sparks. Onlookers merely assumed they were a young couple having a lover's quarrel, chuckled a bit, and dismissed it entirely.

Scarlett was practically dying of anger, aggressively fixing her hair.

"Are we seriously just going to leave them?"

Sloan had already closed his eyes, his voice lazy. "Since when does Silas Sterling ever need you or me to look after him?"

Even if he fell right into a wolf's den, he had clearly jumped in on purpose. The den obviously held something he wanted.

Silas and Vivian were escorted back to their previous suite, but this time, the security was significantly tighter. Two more guards had been added to the detail.

Vivian surveyed the room and whispered, "Silas, can you take them in a fight?"

"What do you think?"

The man threw her a dismissive look, turned around, crossed his arms, and sat down on the sofa.

"Why are you... not panicking at all?"
