The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 388

It certainly wasn't.

Historically, vixens were symbols of deceit, ruin, and manipulation.

But what Silas really meant was that no matter how well a fox hides, it eventually exposes its tail and reveals its true motives.

His voice was cool and steady. "Are you really unaware of how relentlessly clingy you are?"

"Am I clingy?"

"So clingy it makes me want to strangle you sometimes."

"..."

Oh.

Vivian secretly admitted she might be pushing it a little.

"But I don't have a choice! If I'm not clingy, you'll just ignore me. So, if I have to choose between my pride and our future, I'm choosing our future. Someone has to make the first move, right?"

The man let out a faint breath through his nose, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.

"How about we switch roles next time? Why don't you make the first move?"

Vivian tilted her head up to look at him, her eyes sparkling brightly. "Let me experience what it feels like to act all aloof and wait for someone else to chase me."

"Then keep waiting."

Vivian puffed her cheeks and muttered under her breath, "Just wait and see. I'll have you going crazy for me, absolutely obsessed, banging your head against the wall because you want me so badly."

"..."

The two of them continued bickering playfully on the sofa for a while longer.

Vivian checked the bed multiple times to ensure it hadn't been contaminated by Grace before finally dawdling her way into the shower.

When she stepped out, the man was standing by the window. The dim lighting in the room cast long shadows, making his tall, broad-shouldered silhouette look even more imposing, completely obscuring his expression.

Before Vivian could make a move, he turned around, walked straight to the bed, and pulled back the covers.

"Sleep," he ordered in a deep voice.

"Invite me in, then."

Vivian's lips curled into a smirk. She kicked off her slippers with record speed and dove straight into his arms.

"Wouldn't you prefer if I didn't wear anything at all?"

Vivian froze, her eyes immediately lighting up with pure excitement. "Yes! Absolutely! Go wash up completely naked, and we can worry about the clothes later!"

"..."

Silas ground his back teeth, utterly speechless.

He grabbed the clothes from her hands and put them on himself. His movements were slightly stiff due to his injury, but he still looked flawlessly handsome.

He walked into the bathroom to wash up. Vivian eagerly squeezed the toothpaste onto his brush and handed it to him. "My dearest husband, please let me know if there's anything else you need!"

Her vibrant, playful expression finally coaxed a faint smirk onto Silas's lips. His eyes gleam like stars.

"You're quite clever."

"Hmm?" Where did that compliment come from?

The man took his time brushing his teeth and rinsing his mouth.

When he was done, he pulled a tissue to wipe his mouth. Then, he reached out, firmly gripping the back of her neck to pull her close. He lowered his head and pressed a firm kiss against her soft lips, his voice dropping into a magnetic rumble. "Since you're so determined to make me fall in love with you, keep up the good work."
