The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 386

"Alright... I understand."

She looked up at him, her eyes brimming with unshed tears and a fragile sense of stubbornness. "I will only beg you this once. I won't ever do it again. Silas, don't regret this."

The man had his eyes closed, looking as though he had already fallen asleep. He didn't say a single word.

She turned and walked out, her footsteps heavy as lead.

She had barely taken two steps when she walked straight into Vivian, who was just walking in.

Vivian's gaze drifted past Grace to land squarely on the man sitting in the background, dressed in nothing but a loosely tied bathrobe. To be completely honest, her brain short-circuited for a full second.

A bedroom, a half-dressed man.

Even if absolutely nothing had happened, the visual impact alone was enough to trigger a reaction.

Vivian ran her tongue along her teeth. "Miss Gifford, are you some kind of clingy leech? No matter how hard someone tries to shake you off, you just won't leave?"

Grace might not have had any leverage in front of Silas, but she certainly wasn't afraid of Vivian.

With a cold sneer, she shot back.

"If we're talking about clingy leeches, who could possibly compete with you? Hanging around Silas day and night. Don't you have your own life, Miss Fairchild?"

"I do, actually. I'm incredibly busy."

Vivian flashed a smile that didn't reach her eyes, casually crossing her arms over her chest to accentuate her stunning figure.

"There's nothing wrong with me clinging to my husband. But if you're so bothered by it, why don't you drag him out of bed right now and ask him if he minds me clinging to him?"

Seeing Grace's face drain of color, she pressed on. "Ever heard of flirting? He loves everything I do. If he didn't, do you really think we would've stayed together this long?"

"But you, on the other hand. Waltzing in here the second I'm not around. What, were you planning to offer yourself to him? Ha. Grace, you really are... pathetic."

"Are you calling me a slut?"

"Yes, I am. Got a problem with that?"

"..."

She stared fixedly at Vivian, finally gritting out a single sentence from between her teeth: "I will win Silas back. Just wait and see, Vivian."

"..."

She marched downstairs.

A few moments later, the sound of a car engine starting echoed from the courtyard.

Vivian took a deep breath and turned her attention to the man lounging on the sofa.

His bathrobe hung loosely open, fully exposing his defined, muscular chest, and the long, powerful lines of his calves were clearly visible.

Looking at him right now, he seriously looked like a man who had just been taken advantage of!

She gritted her teeth in pure annoyance and marched straight over.

Slapping both hands onto his cheeks, she rubbed his face vigorously. "Stop faking it! I know you're not asleep!"
