With that, she violently shoved Dominic away.
Caught off guard, Dominic stumbled and nearly crashed to the floor.
Vivian ignored him, turning her reddened eyes toward the other two. The mother and daughter were so startled by the sudden outburst that they completely forgot to keep up their act.
She let out a cold, mocking smirk. "As for your little arson story, you'd better stop pinning it on me. Be careful, or your lies might just come true."
Meeting Vivian's piercing glare, Amara felt a sudden chill slide down her spine.
She swallowed hard, her voice trembling. "Vivian..."
"I told you to stop with the sickeningly sweet act."
Vivian swept her gaze over the pathetic group, feeling an overwhelming sense of relief that she would soon sever all ties with them. "You're right. Your perfect little family can live however you please. Don't factor me into your plans, and never call me back here again. Because if something happens... I won't be held responsible."
She turned on her heel and headed for the door. As she brushed past Dominic, she paused for a fraction of a second.
"Watch your back."
"..."
Staring at his daughter's retreating figure, Dominic didn't even have the capacity to process her words. A surge of pure rage rushed straight to his head as he roared, "Vivian, if you walk out that door today, don't you ever come back!"
"..."
Vivian kept her spine perfectly straight and didn't look back once.
"Dad... please calm down. I'll go after her! Please don't ruin your health over this!"
Amara's face was etched with exaggerated worry. After tossing out a few more hollow words of comfort, she sprinted out the door after Vivian.
She finally caught up to her near the estate gates.
"What do you want?"
Vivian looked at the frail woman who seemed like she could be blown over by a stiff breeze, a dark smile playing on her lips. "Are you going to call the cops?"
Amara was breathing heavily. "You're not scared?"
"You burned it down, why should I be scared?"
The smile on Vivian's lips widened, and she sighed lightly. "You know what's truly terrifying? Arrogance. You think you have me all figured out, but what if you've only seen the tip of the iceberg?"
The muscles in Amara's cheeks twitched violently. It was obvious she was furious.
Just as Vivian turned to leave, Amara suddenly lunged forward and grabbed her arm.
Her voice was hoarse. "You can't leave!"
"Let go."
Amara shook her head, her glossy eyes catching the light perfectly. "Dad is already so sick. If you just walk away like this, it'll break his heart even more..."
Vivian took a deep breath, her patience completely vaporized.
The very second she forcefully yanked her arm free, Amara threw herself backward, collapsing to the ground like a puppet with cut strings.
Vivian stood there coldly. The next instant, she felt a sudden gust of wind rush past her—
Ah. The show was starting again.
