The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 268

Chapter 268

“You saw Sloan and me in the lobby earlier, didn’t you?”

When he didn’t respond, Vivian grew even bolder. She leaned all the way over, her body draped across his desk in an elegant S-curve, her open collar revealing a generous expanse of luminous skin.

Resting her chin on her hand, she faced him directly. “Even though you’re the only one I like, I’d be absolutely thrilled if you were jealous over me. Come on, tell me. Make my day.”

Looking at that stunning, expectant face right in front of him, Silas gave her forehead a light but firm flick.

“I allowed you to stay here, not to spout nonsense.”

“I’m just stating facts. How is that nonsense?”

“Keep running your mouth, and I’ll send you right back where you came from.”

Vivian puffed her cheeks. She suddenly sat up straight and buttoned her collar all the way to the top. “Fine, then you don’t get to look.”

The air suddenly fell silent.

An unspoken truth had just been casually dragged into the light.

She had completely forgotten to pretend she didn’t know he wasn’t really blind.

Vivian’s eyes darted playfully, and she seamlessly pivoted. “Oh, right. You can’t see, so that kind of reward is useless. Next time I’ll switch it up. How about I let you touch?”

Silas’s gaze turned as dark as midnight ink. “Go sit on the sofa!”

“I don’t-”

Vivian instinctively wanted to argue, but meeting the man’s stern gaze, she felt like she might actually get tossed out the window if she pushed it. Reluctantly, she shuffled over, muttering under her breath, “What a grump.”

Once she stopped talking, the office became eerily quiet.

Directly across from the desk, the man’s broad-shouldered, imposing figure was a feast for the eyes.

Who said a man hard at work was the most attractive?

Vivian casually crossed her legs, shamelessly admiring this living masterpiece. While she was at it, she pulled out her phone and secretly snapped two photos of him.

Gotta admit, that face was perfection.

She casually dropped the photos into her three-person group chat.

[Anyone want to play? Available for limited-time rental.]

A second later, Chloe Jones sent a question mark, followed closely by Weston Yates.

[Not bad, Vivi. The second boyfriend is quite the upgrade. You’re even doing a timeshare now?]

[But this guy actually looks incredible. If you’re renting him out, don’t let anyone else have him. I’m visiting the city soon anyway, let me take him for a spin first.]

Vivian’s lips curled up. [Sure, pay up.]

[How much?]

[Three million dollars. No lowballing.]

At that point, the man and woman on the other side of the screen launched into a heated debate, accusing her of either being money-crazy or desperate to show off.

What kind of man was worth three million a night?

Vivian watched them bicker quietly, not chiming in again.

When Silas looked up, he saw the woman across the room grinning like a lovestruck teenager. That expression meant she was either plotting something wicked or actively scheming.

His long, articulate fingers tapped against the desk, making a sharp, clear sound.

Vivian immediately looked over. “Did you call me?”

The man frowned, his eyes saying it all.

“You get mad when I talk to you, and you get mad when I don’t. You are really hard to please.”

She shook her head dramatically, acting as if she had just encountered the most unreasonable person on earth.

Silas scoffed. “If you want something, you have to earn it. Don’t you understand that?”

Of course she understood, she just didn’t expect the progress to be this painfully slow.

“I did earn it. I cooked for you, didn’t I?”

“You made a mess twice, and you’re going to hold that over my head until the day I die?” Technically, she hadn’t even cooked; he was the one cleaning up her disasters every time.
