Chapter 170
She backed out to her home screen and opened her recent calls.
There was a missed call from a landline, most likely the police department.
Just then, Zoe called. “Boss, the cops just reached out to me for a basic statement. They’re probably going to contact you next.”
“What did you tell them?”
“I told them Harry was making inappropriate advances, and as soon as we realized what was going on, we left immediately. I said we had absolutely no idea what happened after.”
“Good.”
Vivian’s eyes darkened. “Don’t stress about it. I’ll handle it.’
When she had been at the hospital earlier that evening, she knew things weren’t going to blow over easily.
Silas had seemingly defended her, but in doing so, he had successfully redirected all the crossfire straight onto her.
Grace and her family fully believed Silas was still madly in love with her. How could they possibly tolerate him showing favor to another woman? Even if it had been purely platonic, they wouldn’t stand for it-much less when their dynamic was far from innocent.
Hanging up, Vivian headed straight for the shower.
Stepping out, she slipped into a slinky silk nightgown.
Staring at her stunning curves and radiant face in the mirror, her expression remained calm. She swept her damp hair off her neck and made her way to the study.
Silas had just wrapped up an international video conference. He sat spinning a fountain pen between his long, elegant fingers, catching the light perfectly.
He slumped heavily into his office chair and closed his eyes.
A second later.
A rhythmic knock echoed from the doorway.
The woman leaned halfway into the room, her gorgeous, wavy hair cascading down her shoulders. Her luminous skin glowed, and she flashed a devastatingly beautiful smile.
“Hello there. Since you’re done working, I’m coming in.”
Honestly, she wasn’t actually asking for permission.
Within a few seconds, she had already swaggered over, leaning provocatively against the

edge of his desk right in front of him.
“As a thank you for making me dinner tonight, I’ve decided to reward you. You get to sleep in my bed. Doesn’t that sound nice?”
Silas fixed his intense, dark gaze on her and scoffed. “A reward?”
“Exactly.”
It wasn’t like just anyone could slide into her sheets. Wasn’t that the ultimate prize?
“Did you wash the bowl?”
“No.”
“Go wash your dishes, and I’ll sleep with you.”
His voice was casual, but Vivian instantly knew it was a trap. She narrowed her eyes at him for a long moment. “You’re not planning to lock me out the second I go downstairs, are you?”
The corner of the man’s mouth twitched upward, but he didn’t confirm or deny it.
“Unbelievable. Silas Sterling, playing dirty, huh?”
Vivian puffed out her cheeks, spun around, and plopped herself squarely onto his lap, huffing softly. “I don’t wash dishes. Stop trying to bully me over every little thing.”
She crossed her arms and lifted her chin proudly, the ambient light hitting her flawless face
like a priceless portrait.
Absolutely no man alive could ever bear to lose his temper with a woman this breathtaking.
Except Silas.
Two seconds of silence passed.
His deep, velvety voice broke the quiet.
“I hear the eldest daughter of the Fairchild family grew up unloved and was shipped off abroad in her teens to fend for herself. So tell me… exactly who is responsible for spoiling you rotten and creating this diva attitude of yours, Miss Fairchild?”
Vivian was still sitting with her back to him. It took a long moment before she finally turned her head around.
In that brief hesitation, Silas’s sharp eyes narrowed imperceptibly.
“Haven’t you ever heard the saying? When you’re around the person you love, you naturally act a little more spoiled. Doesn’t that sound exactly like me?”
A hint of mockery tugged at the corner of Silas’s eyes. “Are you telling me you have feelings for me?”

“Of course.”
Vivian reached up, draping her slender arm around his neck.
She leaned in close.
Her voice turned incredibly seductive, practically melting against his ear. “I’m the angel
heaven sent just for you, Silas. You better hurry up and fall in love with me.”
