The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 136

Chapter 136

Vivian paused her movements, looking up with a radiant smile. “I’m not unhappy. Are you jealous?”

“Scoff.”

The single sound told her everything she needed to know.

Silas said nothing more, entirely indifferent to the drama.

Vivian cast a lazy glance at the nearby table. Amara had clearly dressed to impress today Her hair was pulled back into a half-bun secured with a dazzling diamond clip. She looked sweet yet playful, gentle yet flawless-the absolute picture of a wealthy heiress meeting the man of her dreams.

Had Vivian not showed up, she would easily be the most beautiful woman in the restaurant.

Unfortunately…

The moment Vivian appeared, she stole the lion’s share of Jonah’s attention. He was sitting right across from Amara, but his mind was undeniably elsewhere.

The fury in Amara’s chest flared higher.

She abruptly stood up.

“…I’m going to the restroom.” Meeting Jonah’s confused look, she forced a stiff smile.

“Alright,” Jonah checked his watch. “I have a patient this afternoon. I’ll take you back in a bit.”

His words felt like a physical blow to her chest, leaving her suffocating on a surge of

frustration.

She had orchestrated this lunch date to define their relationship.

She already knew his true identity.

He had already broken up with Vivian.

What was the point of all this ambiguity? It was time to make it official.

Yet the way he was acting proved he had no intention of doing so. Was he reconsidering the moment he saw that seductress Vivian?

Amara stopped in her tracks, her brow tightly furrowed.

Looking back, she violently kicked a nearby trash can.

She was going to find out exactly who Vivian’s new man was. Was it all just an elaborate act to make Jonah jealous?

By the time she stepped out of the restroom, the couple had seemingly finished their mea!.

Vivian leaned against the wall, holding her purse, waiting for Silas to finish a phone call.

From where she stood, Amara couldn’t see the man’s face. She took a deep breath and marched over.

“Vivian!”

Vivian turned around. Seeing her haughty expression, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Dressed

like a peacock today, aren’t you? Came all the way over here just to get verbally

up

destroyed?”

“You…!”

Amara’s eyes darted toward the man standing behind Vivian.

Lowering her voice, she hissed, “Since you’re already with someone else, why are you still parading around in front of us? Don’t tell me you actually think this will make Jonah want you back?”

Vivian looked her up and down. “Amara, has anyone ever told you you’re absolutely psychotic?”

Thinking the entire world revolved around her-if that wasn’t crazy, what was?

“Vivian…”

Amara’s tone shifted abruptly. The bitter hostility vanished, replaced by an innocent, tearful gentleness. “I know you think I stole Jonah from you, but we truly love each other. If you’re angry, take it out on me. It has nothing to do with him.”

Vivian knew someone had walked up behind her.

But honestly, Amara’s performance was vastly more entertaining than whoever was standing

there.

With a mood swing like that, did she have a split personality?

“Of course I blame you. Since you’re so plagued with guilt, why don’t you offer me an apology?”

Vivian smirked. “Oh, right. You know how much I despise you. A simple ‘sorry’ isn’t going to cut it. I want a full, humiliating public apology.”

Amara’s face flushed red and then white at the sheer audacity. Gritting her teeth, she choked out, “Vivian, how can you say something so awful in public? Where are your manners?”

“There you go, getting upset again. I was never taught any manners.”

Vivian’s smile widened. “Besides, Dominic hoarded all the family manners for you, and lock how you turned out.”

“…You!”

“Enough!”

The man standing behind them finally snapped, interrupting with a heavy voice. “Vivian, we

can handle our business in private. Stop taking your anger out on Amara.”

“Don’t flatter yourself, Dr. Granger. There is no ‘private’ business between us.”

Vivian threw a glance over her shoulder.

Silas had finished his phone call. He was standing a few feet away, twirling his phone,

watching the spectacle like it was prime-time television.
