The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118

Vivian’s eyes lit up instantly. “Can I?”

“… Silas sneered. “What do you think?”

“I think it’s an excellent idea.”

Completely ignoring his dark, warning gaze, Vivian rationally broke it down. “I consider myself a pretty well-behaved sleeper. You sleep alone anyway, and the bed is huge. What if/ you accidentally roll off? With me here, you won’t have to worry about that.”

Having her there would be the real reason to worry.

As for her claim of being a ‘well-behaved sleeper,’ that would later be proven spectacularly

false.

Silas took off his earpiece and set it on the nightstand, his tone freezing. “Since you came in here, Miss Fairchild, you should have been prepared for rejection. Now, get out.”

Vivian bit her lip and stayed rooted to the spot.

“What, do I need to throw you out again?”

“…That won’t be necessary.”

The woman shifted to a negotiating tone. “Then can you tell me what it would take for you to let me sleep with you?”

Silas smiled again.

Maybe he genuinely found her ridiculous.

Or perhaps he simply didn’t know what expression to make.

It was the first time Vivian had seen him smile so beautifully. His brow relaxed, revealing a row of perfect white teeth. In the natural light, his sharp features softened into something incredibly gentle.

But the look vanished as quickly as it appeared, swallowed up by his usual cold indifference.

He threw off the covers and stood, walking slowly until he was right in front of Vivian.

He looked down.

His razor-sharp gaze immediately pinned her in place.

“I can tell you that under no circumstances will I ever let you sleep with me. Miss Fairchild, I believe I made myself abundantly clear before. This marriage will remain sexless. Even if you’re dying for it, you’ll just have to hold it in.”

With that, he tipped his sculpted chin toward the door.

Chapter 118

“Get out.”

Vivian knew that if she pushed any further, this man would legitimately lose his temper.

So, she leaned in, planted a quick kiss on his cheek, and said, “Goodnight.”

She spun on her heel and walked out cleanly.

Martha Gable was always incredibly punctual, ensuring breakfast was ready by exactly seven o’clock every morning.

Vivian helped Silas prepare his suit and fix his tie as usual.

Suddenly, her hands paused as a thought crossed her mind.

“Oh right… how did the checkup go yesterday?”

The man looked down, a faint, mocking curve pulling at his lips. “It must be hard for you to actually remember to ask.”

Feeling a little guilty, Vivian fiddled with the perfectly tied knot. “Well, you made me mad… so I forgot.”

“…” Her ability to shift the blame was truly unparalleled.

Silas couldn’t be bothered to argue and walked straight out.

Watching his broad, confident back, Vivian couldn’t stop her lips from curving upward. This man… wasn’t as impossible as she thought.

By the time she finished getting ready and came downstairs, twenty minutes had passed.

Usually, Silas would have already left by now.

But not today. His tall frame was still seated at the dining table, his brows knit slightly as if his patience was running on fumes.

Vivian took the glass of milk Martha offered and walked over to sit beside him, her eyes bright. “Did you wait for me?”

The crease between Silas’s brows smoothed out slightly. “We’re going to The Manor for dinner tonight. I’ll pick you up when it’s time.”

“Okay.”

Hearing her agree, the man stood up and left.

Vivian wasn’t bothered in the slightest, casually taking her time with breakfast.

Martha, however, found her calm demeanor odd and offered a hesitant smile. “Don’t be discouraged, Miss. You’re already doing better than most. Aside from Miss Grace, no other woman has ever been invited to the Sterling family’s manor.”
