Chapter 116
Silas, of course, had absolutely zero interest in a cliché romance story. Besides, if he really wanted to know, it would be effortless for him to find out.
“If you don’t say anything, I’m coming in.”
Vivian didn’t exactly wait for his permission to say this either.
She clicked her heels across the floor, her eyes sweeping the room before she ultimately leaned against his desk, facing him directly.
She cleared her throat.
“I’ll start.”
For once, the man didn’t kick her out. He simply watched her, waiting to see what she would
Vivian’s eyes fluttered, and she began, “Three years ago, I got into a car accident. The doctor said I’d have lingering side effects and needed continuous physical therapy. So, Dominic Fairchild hired a private doctor for me.”
That doctor was Jonah.
He was gentle, refined, and highly skilled.
Driven by a deep sense of professional dedication, he took immaculate care of Vivian back
then.
“I was in a pretty dark place emotionally, and having someone constantly by my side made it easy to develop a sense of dependency. But it was just that-dependency.”
Watching the man’s expression, Vivian covertly reached out to tug at his sleeve.
Unfortunately, the man happened to lift his arm at that exact moment.
…She missed.
She licked her lips and continued, “You should know better than anyone that we were only dating in name. Nothing physical ever happened.”
Silas’s dark eyes locked onto her position. “And why would I know that?”
“You…!”
Vivian choked on her words before huffing, “You clearly paused that day. You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
He remained noncommittal.
Vivian studied the man sitting just a step away.

Chapter 116
He was elegant, arrogant, and his dark eyes burned like stars.
His allure didn’t just stem from his status or his face; it lived in every micro-expression, igniting an irresistible urge to peel back his layers and conquer him.
Vivian tilted her head and suddenly leaned in close.
At this distance, she could count his eyelashes clearly.
Silas suddenly felt a heavy weight against his chest. She had planted herself right in his lap, her soft hair brushing past his jaw like a pampered pet demanding affection.
The faint, clean scent of her body wash drifted into his nose, making him frown instinctively.
He looked down.
Just as he was about to toss the woman off him, she beat him to it, raising her hands to cup his face. “Why aren’t you saying anything? I’m explaining myself to you.”
Silas’s unfathomable gaze settled on her face, making it impossible to read his mood.
After a long moment, his deep voice finally rumbled.
“Is your explanation just telling me a story?”
“Ah.”
What else was she supposed to say?
“It seems Miss Fairchild’s charm truly is extraordinary. Otherwise, why would the heir of the Granger family be so obsessed with you?”
Vivian decided to take that as a compliment. But-
“It doesn’t matter how obsessed he is. I only like you now.
She really just says whatever comes to mind.
Silas reached up and pinched her chin, narrowing his eyes slightly as if straining to see her clearly, though all he saw was an empty void.
He voiced another question, his tone dark. “According to you, Jonah spent three years with you, practically living by your side day and night, and you two never slept together?”

What a hypocrite.
Vivian used to think highly of him, but now she realized he was just as predictable as any other man.
“We spent time together, sure,” she said, casually tracing his palm. “But everything he did was just to get closer to Amara. He didn’t have the energy to waste on me.”

Silas narrowed his eyes and let go.
He pulled a tissue from the desk and wiped his hands.
His long, elegant fingers were pale and evenly proportioned, the veins on the back of his hand distinctly visible.
“Miss Fairchild, today’s incident was just a coincidence. I can pretend it never happened. But next time… you won’t be so lucky.”
