A chill shot up Cynthia's spine.
She felt the risk was a bit too high.
But she also knew Mia wouldn't listen to her.
If you can't beat them, join them.
Besides, the future Mia had painted was just too alluring.
Just thinking about it made her blood boil with excitement.
"Do it your way."
"Tell me directly whatever support you need."
Mia smiled smugly. "So, do you feel like I'm way more useful than a son now?"
Years ago, Cynthia used to complain, regretting that Mia wasn't a boy.
Otherwise, Leonard's heart would have been firmly locked onto her.
Cynthia thought Mia had forgotten about all that, but she still remembered.
A flash of embarrassment crossed Cynthia's face. She replied, slightly defensive and guilty, "You are my daughter. I just wanted you to succeed early on."
"Besides, what man doesn't want a son? I was just saying it casually."
Mia knew her mother was just making excuses and smiled casually. "I know."
She leaned into her mother's embrace like a little girl. "Mom, I promise I'll give you a good life."
Cynthia hugged her, her expression gradually relaxing.
"Even though there's hope for the Hayes family, don't forget about your own future. I really despise Aaron. Playing around is fine, but absolutely do not let him scheme his way into your life."
Cynthia was expressing her dissatisfaction over Mia bailing Aaron out.
He was finally about to be locked up. All Mia had to do was keep her mouth shut. Why waste the effort and money?
