"Remember what you said last time we talked about colleagues? Did you know back then that we might end up working with Nolan?"
Nathan wasn't surprised by Nora's sharpness.
After all, he knew this day would come.
"I knew Nolan had been 'drafted,' but I didn't know for sure he'd be assigned to our task force."
Nora felt he was holding back.
But thinking about it, he really had no reason to lie about something like this.
She nodded. "So what position are you planning to give Nolan on the Special Task Force?"
The police department certainly had tech specialists.
However, the Special Task Force didn't have a dedicated role for one.
"Technical Consultant."
Nathan clearly had Nolan's arrangement figured out well in advance.
Nora hummed in agreement and didn't press further.
She had a pretty good read on Nathan by now.
He could be jealous, but he never dropped the ball when it came to serious business.
"It's about time. We should head to the boutique."
Nora wouldn't dare forget today's main event.
After all, Valerie had been blowing up her phone with reminders. If she forgot, Valerie would probably show up and drag her there.
"Alright."
Nathan checked his phone. The station hadn't sent any updates yet. He figured the intruder probably hadn't spilled anything, a flash of understanding crossing his eyes.
If the guy cracked under a little pressure, he wouldn't have had the guts to pull a stunt like that in the first place.
"Let's go."
