Chapter 95
Cecilia’s POV
“The consort ceremony will be fed with Alpha’s daughters,” Madam Isa said, her sharp gaze narrowing at each of us. “They will be the most respected at the ceremony, besides the King of course. They are to be treated as such. You each will greet them accordingly. Today we will practice said greetings.”
Murmurs erupted around the grand ballroom, its high ceilings echoing with anticipation and the soft glow of chandeliers casting shimmering light on the ornate decor.
It was the day after my kiss with Warren, and my lips were still tingling. I hadn’t been able to erase it from my mind as I had hoped. I’ve been avoiding Leopold for most of the day, which was fairly easy because I’m pretty sure he was avoiding me, too.
“That’ll be easy for me because I’m also an Alpha’s daughter,” Vivian said, brushing a strand of her dark hair out of her face.
She glanced in my direction, her nose tipped up.
“Some of us will need the extra practice, though.”
It was clear her words were meant for me.
“Then how about you go first, then?” Madam Isa said, gesturing for Vivian. “Act as though I am one of the daughters attending the ceremony.”
Vivian stepped forward, her eyes on Madam Isa and a small smile tipping the corner of her lips.
“It’d be my honor,” Vivian said.
She curtsied to Madam Isa.
“It is a pleasure to meet you,” Vivian said. “Might I say, your dress is lovely.”
Madam Isa frowned, but Vivian didn’t seem to notice as she continued.
“The other ladies and I are honored to be in your presence this evening, and we are eager to get to know you better. I hope that none of us come off as uncordial.”
Her eyes flashed in my direction, and I could see the mischief in them. Madam Isa noticed too, and her frown deepened even
more.
“The music here is lovely… don’t you think?”
Madam Isa finally had enough, putting her hand up to stop Vivian. She turned to the rest of us.
“Now, let’s discuss what Vivian had done wrong.”
Now it was Vivian’s turn to frown, and her cheeks turned red.
“What?” Vivian asked, clearly taken aback.
“She spoke too much,” I said matter-of-factly, without looking at Vivian, my attention directed towards Madam Isa.
They all turned to look at me.
“What the hell do you know, Omega?” Vivian spat, her eyes narrowing. “I’m sure you’ve never even been face to face with an Alpha’s daughter before… other than me, of course.”
“I’d like to hear more about what Cecilia has to say,” Madam Isa surprised everyone by saying.
When she looked at me, her expression softened, and she nodded for me to continue. I wasn’t a fan of the attention suddenly on me, but I had the answers in my mind, so I took a deep breath before speaking.

“The Alpha’s daughters aren’t here for us; they are here for the King. They don’t care about small talk or if we find their dresses pretty… they only care about King Leopold,” I said, my eyes trained on Madam Isa. “Bowing your head slightly to them in passing is enough, and they will most likely do the same because it’s the polite thing to do and they wouldn’t want to seem uptight.”
Everyone was silent as they stared at me, some of them had gaping mouths.
“The Alphas, on the other hand, might take an interest in us, as most will want to find a concubine for themselves, and once the King finds his mate… or a suitable queen… we will be available for them. We should study their topics of interest so we can follow along with conversations. That way, we don’t make the King look bad.”
“And what type of topics would that be, Cecilia?” Madam Isa asked, her question filled with honest interest.
It gave me the confidence I needed to continue; the way her lips were tipped up in the corner made me positive that I was heading in the right direction.
“Alphas usually discuss topics like trade alliances, seasonal migration patterns, inheritance negotiations, ceremonial hunting invitations…”
The room went still.
“And of course the political implications of mate selection,” I concluded.
