Chapter yo
“Is that what you think I’do” He asked over his shoulder.
“I’m not sure what you would do anymore, Warren. You can be unpredictable,” I tell him, to which he let out a low laugh.
“That’s an understatement.”
I wasn’t sure where he was taking me; this was a different direction than what I was used to. But the farther we got into the forest, the eerier I started to feel. My breathing started to grow heavy, and it almost seemed as if it was getting even darker. I looked around, not recognizing many things.
But before I could ask him, he stopped.
I nearly ran right into him from the sudden halt.
“Warren, what-” I started to ask, but then I heard it.
Water.
I raised my brows and looked up at him. He had a content look on his face, which made my shoulders ease slightly. I had to remember that I trusted Warren. He would never lead me to my certain death.
Leopold… maybe.
But not Warren. Never Warren.
He moved the bushes and shrubbery in front of us, blocking our view, and I realized they had hollowed out into a huge open space, and my mouth fell open at the sight. It was a private stream with a waterfall.
It was the most gorgeous sight I had ever seen, with gorgeous flowers lining the cliff walls, and the water was so blue and clear at the same time.
“Whoa,” I said, stepping around him to get a better view. “This place is incredible.”
“It’s where the palace gets fresh water,” Warren said. “But I also like coming here just to think sometimes.”
“This is your secret place?” I asked, my voice coming out barely above a whisper.
“It’s not really a secret to those who reside in the palace or who are from the area. But nobody knows I come here late at night.”
Though the night sky was dark and the area around us felt even darker, the water had a glow, lighting up the space.
“It’s so beautiful,” I whispered. “Thank you for taking me here.”
Warren lifted one shoulder.
He was acting strangely, and I wanted to break him out of the shell he had put himself in.
“Let’s go up there,” I said, pointing to the top of the cliff, just above the waterfall.
He followed my finger and raised his brows.
“You want to climb up a cliff? Are you crazy?” He asked, looking back down at me.
I raised my brows at him.
“Since when are you a chicken?” I asked, teasingly.
He narrowed his eyes.
“What?”

Without much thought, I put my hands on my hips, creating wings, and then I started to cluck and dance around him. He watched me make a fool out of myself, pretty much, his expression almost unreadable.
“See, this is what I am talking about. No Omega is capable of climbing a cliff. Nor would they want to.”
I stopped in front of him, my eyes narrowing at him as I clucked so loud, I nearly fell over from the force of it. Thankfully, his reflexes were quick, and he reached out to grabne before I actually fell.
His demeanor changed completely; he went from expressionless to laughing.
“You’re being ridiculous,” he said, shaking his head as he laughed.
“At least I’m not a chicken,” I tell him. “Race you to the top.”
I didn’t wait for him to respond; I started to climb. I was a fairly good climber, so it didn’t take much for me to reach the top. It was a tall cliff, but I’ve certainly climbed taller. There were a ton of resting spots and footholds.
Just when I thought I had one-upped him, he sped past me, climbing up the cliff like it was nothing.
My mouth nearly fell open at the sight of him, and by the time I reached the top, he was sitting on the edge of the cliff, a shit- eating grin on his face.
Now that was the Warren I’ve come to know and cherish.
