The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50

Cecilia’s POV

“What did you mean by that??”

My eyes flew open at the harsh tone beside me

Leopold was standing out of bed, his eyes dark with rage flashing through them. I sucked in a sharp breath… my heart hammering against my chest. What had I said? Did I speak qut loud?

Achill crept up my spine as I opened my eyes and lifted my head. I was still tired from sleep, but I blinked my eyes open and peered around the room. The door was closed, so it wasn’t that someone was staring at me from the doorway.

I realized I was still in Leopold’s room. I should have left after Warren had fallen asleep, but instead, I fell asleep beside him. I looked over to the other side of the bed and found it empty. It was cold… which meant Leopold had been awake for a while. 1

Then, I spotted him.

Leopold leaned against the wall on the far side of the room, his arms folded across his chest, his head down. His hair was covering his eyes, so I couldn’t see what they looked like at that moment, but I knew with certainty that the man standing in front of me was Leopold and not his wolf.

I swallowed the lump in my throat as I sat up, allowing the blanket to fall around my waist. I still wore the dress I’d worn to the tea party last night. 1

When I looked back up at Leopold, he was now staring at me. His expression was stoic, and it made my heart beat a little faster.

“Tell me what happened last night.”

His words came out as a command, and I knew I couldn’t lie to him… not about this.

“Your wolf took control and went mad. Almost killed a maid,” Ltold him.

“Why didn’t I?”

The question came as a surprise to me, but I swallowed down the sudden fear that clawed its way inside of me and tried to answer his question with a sincere steadiness.

“I calmed your wolf.”

His eyes narrowed at me, and he pushed himself off the wall, his strides purposeful as he walked towards the bed… towards me.

“How were you able to do that? Not one person has ever been able to calm my wolf… not even me. And yet you can do so after only knowing me for a short time. Are you a witch?” 1

My eyes widened; out of all the things he could have said, I wasn’t expecting that one.

I pressed my lips together and wrapped my arms around my body like I was trying to hold myself together.

“No,” I replied, my voice coming out softer than I intended. “I’m not a witch.”

“Then tell me how you were able to calm my wolf so easily,” Leopold said, his tone deepening as he closed the distance between him and the bed.

I swallowed again; my throat working over time. I tried to think of an excuse… any excuse, but his expression immediately darkened, as if he could sense the lie on the tip of my tongue.

“Don’t you dare lie to me, Cecilia,” he said through his teeth.

Well fuck…

He really could sense the lie on the tip of my tongue.

“Tell the truth,” Lora told me urging me to speak.
