Chapter 33
Cecilia’s POV
Anna stepped further into the room, her hands clasped behind her back.
“I don’t mean to be so rash,” she tells me, her eyes finding mine. “I’m not here to expose you. But I know who you are, and you don’t belong in this palace. You were never meant to be here. At least, I can’t imagine that you were. How did you end up here?”
I stared at the girl’s face. She was probably around my age, her eyes tired and her expression almost forlorn. She wore the typical uniform of a palace maid; her hair tied in a ponytail with whisps of blonde curls crowning her face.
“How do you know who I am?” I asked, finally finding my voice.
“My apologies. I probably should have opened up with that,” she said, her cheeks turning pink. “I am from your pack.”
My heart stopped in my chest.
“What?”
“The Silver Moon Pack,” she replied. “I am an Omega slave of your father’s pack.”
The more I stared at her, the more I realized she did look slightly familiar.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, my brows furrowed together. “I don’t understand…”
“I just turned 18,” she explained. “Just like you… And I was brought here.”
“And now you’re my maid,” I said, my voice only coming out a little above a whisper. “I’m so sorry, Anna-”
“Please, don’t apologize. It’s an honor to be here to serve you. Not only are you the King’s concubine, but you’re also my Alpha’s daughter. It’s almost like it was fate bringing us together,”
There was a tightness that formed in my chest when she smiled at me, her eyes beaming with excitement. I ignored it, though, thinking that it was just a little anxiety.
“This room is beautiful,” she said, looking around. “The King truly spoils his concubines, doesn’t he?”
“I suppose so,” I told her, keeping my reply short. “I’m not really sure what to do with myself if I were to be honest.”
“Well, is there anything I can do for you? Draw you a bath? Get you some tea?” She asked.
“You don’t have to-” I started to say, but she waved off my words.
“It’s my job, Mistress. I honestly don’t mind.”
“Alright… tea would be nice,” I tell her. “Arid please, just call me Cecilia.”
Her eyes widened.
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want to overstep.”
“I’m positive,” I assured her. “It would make me feel better if you did.”
She thought about it for a moment, nibbling on her lower lip.
“Alright. Cecilia, it is,” she said. “I’ll be right back with your tea.”
She turned on that note and hurried out of the room. I let out a breath and turned to look around the space I was given. It was the same room I was in before, but somehow it seemed bigger. Or maybe it was just the bed that was bigger.
I wondered if that meant Leopold would start spending his nights here. Though maybe it wouldn’t be so different. It seemed no
