Chapter 301
Chilia’s PIN
The cloutdoor started against the wall, denting it
I let out a startled scream as I scrambled to my feet, tastinctively stuffing both the letter and the pendant back into the enchanted box. The box tell from my hands and slipped back into the latch just as I spun around to face the masked meni.
They were gammas from the royal palace, and my chest cracked open at the sight of them. My first thought was that Leopold had sent them. But why would he send them after releasing me?
There were four of them covering the doorway.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, immediately taking a cautious backward step.
The tallest of the four stepped forward.
“His Majesty has ordered your immediate return to the palace.”
Something inside of me immediately tightened.
“The King?” I repeated.
“Yes. He’s changed his mind about sending you home. You are to report back to him before sundown. We are here to take you back.”
Something about this didn’t sit right with me, I looked amongst the men, their faces hidden behind dark masks. I wondered why they were wearing masks. I also wondered where Landon was. He wouldn’t have sent these garmas to get me without Landon being present.
“Lying,” Lora said, a low growl in her tone.
I knew she was right; I could feel it too. This man was not being truthful.
“And where is Landon?” I asked. “Shouldn’t he be here as well?”
The gamma hesitated for a brief moment, just like I knew he would. I might have been pretending to be an Omega for all these months, but my Alpha instincts were flaring and my wolf, despite her weakened state, was on edge.
“Sir Landon is… occupied.”
It was a lie.
“I’m not going with you,” I told him, folding my arms across my chest. “Now, if you’ll excuse me.”
“You weren’t asked,” the gamma said, his tone low, and I could hear the threat behind his words. “It was an order”
“Are you truly going to keep me hostage inside of my closet?” I asked, my eyes narrowed at the other three gammas who stood, blocking the doorway.
I wasn’t going to tell them that this was my mother’s room; the less they knew… the better.
One of them surprisingly stepped aside, which earned him a dirty look from the others. I used that opportunity to sneak past them and into my mother’s room, feeling like I could breathe a bit easier now that I wasn’t trapped in such a confined space.

“Now, that’s better,” I tell them, keeping my tone light. “Now you may leave.”
We aren’t going anywhere without you,” the tallest gamma said; I’m ruling him as the one in charge of this whole operation. “King’s orders.”
My chest tightened.
“Then, I will just wait for Landoit to arrive so he can take me to the King himself,” I said, narrowing my eyes at
him.
I refused to let them break me.
“He isn’t coming,” the gamma said through his teeth, his eyes darkening. “You are either going to come with as willingly… or by force.”
“Is that also the King’s orders?” I challenged, knowing damn right that Leopold would never order such a thing.
